I'm finally getting around to getting LS shirts. In SS, the L fits me best. But I'm tall and wear 36" sleeves on dress shirts, so I'm worried about arm length. Has anyone compared the arm length on the L and XL that could help me figure out which to order? (I sent an inquiry to OSI, but did not get a response.)
I wear a 34" sleeve on most shirts (but strangely enough, a 35 in Brooks Brothers). I'll try my L jersey on when I get home tonight and let you know what I think.
p.s. Do I recall correctly what when these first came out people were saying they ran a little bigger than the old ones? I think that's why I ended up ordering L's instead of the XL I wore in the old style. Does that sound right?
I would wear an XL (6’1”) but have long arms. Like 38” on sleeve length. I buy the XXL shirts and they still aren’t long enough. I mean a couple of inches too short.
I had OSI person measure. There is no difference between XXL and XL sleeve lengths. At 37 inch sleeve, too short for me by more than a few inches.
Have lurked here for years. Lots of insight and food for thought in this great forum! Finally might have something worth posting... I'm 6'4, 220 lbs and wear an XL; 37/38 dress shirt. Previous L/S OSI jerseys barely worked, new ones hike way too far up the arms. I called OSI. They came out in Nov with an extra-long long sleeve that's supposedly 2" longer than standard. But, you have to CALL to order them (all colors) - they're not on the website . I'm exchanging my unused L/S via the return form per their instructions . Not sure which other sizes have the option.
OK here's my take. Now that you've called it to my attention, I would have to say the sleeves on my L are about an inch shorter than what might be ideal for me. If my arms were two inches longer (i.e., yours), it would look like I'd borrowed someone else's jersey. Comparing the new L to my last-generation (wide stripe) XL, the distance from collar seam to cuff is at least two, maybe three inches shorter. Bottom line, I think @MJ91's tip is probably the ticket for you.
I’m 6’3” and wear a large. The arms are a bit short of a really stretch but for normal running and standing posture they are fine. Going up one size makes the chest and waist lose some of the form fitting factor so I just deal with the sleeves.
So glad you posted this--just ordered over the phone for the extra long sleeves. Thanks much! (BTW, she also told me I could do it on line and put a note on the order for the longer sleeves, but doing it in person seemed safer to me.)
These are the pro's in XL, previous and current. If the longer ones are close to the wide-striped ones, it'll have to do. Unless someone knows another brand that has true extra-long sleeves?
What some manufacturer really needs to make is a true cold weather LS. (Or did someone already do that...)
My extra long sleeves arrived--and are plenty long. Very happy. (I'm 6'4" and wear a 36" dress sleeve--the large with longer sleeves are perfect for me.)
All I know is with the new OSI uniforms, I am finally able to ask my betrothed the same question she asks me all the time..."Do I look fat in this?"
Reviews on the website seem all good, with one major complaint being that it’s hard to put on/take off. Something worth noting as well is the pockets. I can’t confirm this (as I don’t have the shirt) but from the pictures it seems that there are pocket FLAPS, and those have pull tabs on them.
They just came out with them. Haven't seen any in person yet. Was considering a cold weather one. Limited reviews on their website for both so far but all positive. A bit surprised OSI doesn't have something similar. Actually, it's OSI. Not surprised.
Again, nothing on the "waterproof" one says anything about "breathable." If it's not it'll be a sweatsuit.
When they first came out a few months ago they did claim it was breathable in the description but without any ratings. I emailed asking for details on both waterproof and breath-ability ratings and got no reply. Odds are it's just plastic. 100% waterproof, 0 breath-ability.
