New team was announced today, lots of discussion in multiple threads in multiple places. Give us a place to consolidate, please.
I'll second the request Also, the currently active threads: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/expansion-draft-speculation.2024795/ http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/orlando-city.2024754/ Other discussion also currently filtering in to other NWSL threads
Several threads going in multiple places, including in the Orlando City forums. Can we get a subforum in NWSL?
I'm not clear on how many is "enough". There were more threads on the Pride in a couple of months than threads in some of the other NWSL team forums the entirety of last year. That would seem to be enough, I would think.
I would like to point out that the Germany Women forum has a grand total of 8 posts from 3 users since the start of the calendar year and no posts for the past two weeks, while all NWSL team subforums aside from the Sky Blue subforum have more activity than that, and there are already more posters Orlando-focused (@BigData and @Orlando Rays) than most NWSL teams that usually have just one or no dedicated members. Activity will not be an issue.
I don't think activity should even be a consideration. Either all NWSL teams get a subforum, or none do. And since 9 out of 10 have one, it's much easier to add 1 more than remove 9...
Honestly that's my opinion too, but since @dark knight asked about how many fans the team has, I felt like addressing whether the new subforum would be "worth it" or not.
Yes we do....and enough posters like me who would post there and who are not team fans. In the real world, season ticket sales for this brand new team are going very well per this article (the headline is a bit chauvinist): Orlando Pride on MLS pace for ticket sales http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-city-lions/os-uswnt-news-1026-20151025-story.html RE: Orlando Pride Sub Forum: I vote a resounding YES.
The last thing anyone wants to see is a forum that gets a few posts every now and again. It's easier to separate discussion into forums when the forum would be a busy one vs having a lot of empty forums. You can start with a general league forum and then pull content into separate fora as needed.
Fans of a team do not want to post in an area where they are more likely to be harassed and commented upon by other posters. They want their own space for their own discussions. A thread isn't nearly the same. But if your thought process is accurate, then the Pride should get a subforum and some of the other team subforums should go away due to lack of interest.
I don't necessarily disagree, but we are talking about a top division women's soccer team. This would be like if LAFC didn't get a new subforum because there was only a few threads about it... except it did. And I'm not disparaging LAFC here. I think it deserved it's own forum too (if you check, you'll see that I actually created the 2nd and 3rd threads in its subforum). So it's just a horrible disservice to not give Orlando Pride its own subforum when they start play in a few months, have a head coach, and have a roster, but LAFC doesn't even begin playing for 2 more years and has none of that.
We have a new thread (here) and another Orlando-based poster (@Kickballer) I'm honestly just shocked that the Dash got their subforum so easily and there seems to be such a huge resistance to the Pride getting a subforum when the Pride already have twice as much activity and fans on this board than the Dash did at this point in their development.
There was a request for a Mexico team forum to be added, and the forum was created after only two replies. The "process" is perplexing.
