I'm not for it; any group that requires an explanation of the name of the group already failed at their first job, which is recognition and the ability for people to relate to the group.

With that said, I respectfully object.

Ok, I think you need to start a new thread devoted just to this idea, because I'm getting lost with all the different ideas everyone is floating around. Multiple supporters groups? I thought that's what we wanted to avoid.

I'm having trouble keeping up with all the ideas, so if this one is the one you guys feel most strongly about, start a new discussion with all the aspects you guys agreed about, and what still needs to be decided....

    Pretty please...

I can make a log for this if no one has already tried.

Just started a new job and the work is really slow now, so I have the time.

Me too! And the ambiguity of the name has bothered me from the start!
Totally dislike the biker image emblem too!

OFC, and FL Gran suggest maybe this is all getting a bit deep. I'm not totally in disagreement with them. I agree with OFC that if we must explain the name we're already in the hole. My thoughts on the Reaper logo are cool, edgy, attitude, but maybe a touch over the top, as in bikers, tatoos, whacked out. I'll wear any shirt and participate in any chant (within reason), but my personal opinion is dumb it down a bit so the average person doesn't need explaining and soften the logo.

Also, what do I gotta do to get OCSC as an option under "Fav Team"?

    Dear Friends,
1.) We've been waiting since 11/11 to see what you all thought about this image. Most of you must have been busy over the weekend. Thanks to all of you for weighing in.
2.) WorldGame, SoccerPrime and I were just having a little fun with the cowbell thing. Walken is a genius and it was great to see a portion of that classic SNL skit.
3.) The way this new image thing came about: I was thinking of a motto for our group. I was considering the name of the team. Now, as you are aware, my group campaigned for the name "Odyssey". Donner, or someone in his group, came up with "City". Since they have the gold, they make the rules. I understand that. And having grown up in Orlando,I found I sort of like the name "City". Yes, it's the final euro-football cliche yet to be used in the U.S. (see Real, F.C., Galexy, Dynamo, etc...). But it fits here because I feel this is America's next great city. Anyways, back to the motto and image. I thought "City Til We Die." Another soccer cliche perhaps, but not one used around here. And thinking of the motto, the thought of Death running up to me and holding a red card over my head, ordering me off the pitch, amused me. I ran it by a few people and they laughed too. I then drew a rough sketch of the concept and gave it to a real artist to complete. Now I'm just relaying this story in case you're interested. I am not trying to explain it. You either get the metaphor (soccer is life until the grim reaper kicks you out of the game), or you don't. That's O.K. with us. Is it a little over-the-top? Of course it is. Will it turn off some people? Like I said in an earlier post, "We ain't planning to be the red hat ladies." Are we going to be dangerous? No more than the doctors, lawyers, buisness execs and cops who don their leather jackets, jump on their Harleys and ride to Daytona every February.
4.) If anyone wants to start other groups with a "Lions" theme or sport a crest with a Lake Eola Fountain motif...Great. We'll appreciate the effort. And our brothers and sisters, we will be more than happy to escort your group into Steinbrenner Field.
5.) We have a motto and an image. Our website is called "Orlando City Supporters" (an idea proposed by Mobster Speedcake). It is still under renovation and will be up soon. We still don't have a good nickname. All ideas are welcome.

Quick question! Was wondering and hoping if there were going to be any meetings of Orlando City fans/supporters before the end of the year. Being relatively new to the Orlando support game, was really looking forward to being able to immerse myself in it as soon as possible. If one of you OGs could help me out here it would be great!

Seconded! I would really enjoy meeting the guys/gals that have been working for so long to get the groups off the ground. I am also really looking forward to immerse myself as a suppporter as well so that would be an added bonus. Just to throw out an idea - perhaps a watch party at the Celt? Tottenham Vs. Liverpool Sunday at 11AM might be a good one to try....

We hear you. We are planning our next event as I write this. You all will be welcomed with open arms!

We're currently working on shirts. Set-up and turn-around times are slowing things down a bit. But we are carrying on. We're also kicking around some ideas to make the next event even more fun. We hosted a Pub Quiz at our last meeting and awarded the winner a Nike EPL Replica Match Ball (signed by Steve Donner and Mark Dillon).

It sounds like everyone is as excited for our next event as we are. There's so much riding on making our group the very best. It's taking a lot of time and work. If everyone out there wants to get together right away, we're all for it. Contact us on our Facebook sites or email us at the address on the website.

Until we're able to nail down a time, date and location of our next big event, check out our website:

    http://www.orlandocitysupporters.com

We are committed to updating this site frequently. You never know what we'll be saying or what we'll be doing next. Our two Facebook sites are: "Orlando City Supporters" and "City Til We Die".

Some of us are getting together at the Harp & Celt, 25 S. Magnolia Ave, Orlando on Sunday, 11/28/2010 at 11:00 am. No big, planned event. Just there to watch some EPL and meet anyone interested in the group.

We're operating under the name "Orlando City Supporters" but we still don't have a nickname. Maybe you have the the answer.

We hope to see you on Sunday.

Went well. Apparently teamAOK and Leondecollao couldn't make it.

We got to meet some new people, talk up Orlando City S.C., pass out some business cards, etc...

About half the crowd seemed interested. About half didn't know a professional soccer team was coming to Orlando in 2011.

    Wierd.

Jeez, I was sick too. All the stuff I accumulated from my cold a couple of weeks ago decided to come down and stuff me up badly. I was ill during what should've been a weeklong vacation for me. :(
