Might as well get this started. Phil and Kay Rawlins are separating. The Sentinel article seems to suggest this is a cause for Phil stepping away from running the club. It's kind've unfortunate, really. Kay was a major driver on the charitable side of the club, and is every much beloved in this city as Phil. Kay will remain on as a vice president and as the head of the Orlando City Foundation. Also according the Sentinel, Flavio Augusto wanted Phil to remain active with the team. Both of Phil and Kay's sons are also remaining in the front office.
Stadium naming deal imminent Alex Leitão is on the record as saying it may be this week. The article doesn't speculate on who. It also said the club will move into offices at the stadium as soon as they are ready, before Opening Day.
They had better change. They have been a terrible MLS club. With basically everything from the USL days gone, they had better win fast. Fans loyal from the USL days are free to be fickle now.
Chicago has been a terrible MLS club. Chivas was a much more terrible MLS club. Orlando has been a great MLS club that has just missed out on the playoffs two years running. This is nowhere near terrible.
Seriously. The doom and gloom from some of the fan base is downright bizarre to me. But then again, I've supported a soccer team all my life that spent most of the past 10 years in the third division and just got shut down for financial issues. I know terrible and OCSC is far from it.
It's because they are loyal to Phil, and they see any change that doesn't involve Phil and the original staff as against the club's original vision. Plus, they're spoiled by our USL success. Which is exactly what I feared would happen.
http://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2017/01/04/orlando-city-sc-signs-victor-pc-giro OCSC to sign Brazilian LB - Giro. Giro, widely known as “PC,” joins City on a four-year deal from North American Soccer League (NASL) side Tampa Bay Rowdies, where he scored one goal and an assist in 14 appearances. I hope this is for depth, but why waste an int spot for depth?
This guy is good. I remember him from the US Open game last year. He is young and quality. We need better players, and he is one.
Really thrilled we're keeping Hines and on a 3 year deal to boot! NEWS: City sign Servando Carrasco, re-sign Seb Hines and Kevin Alston to new deals. Full Details | https://t.co/anEHfxQGtf pic.twitter.com/1yqogKWlIy— Orlando City SC (@OrlandoCitySC) January 6, 2017
Given what we paid him the last two years, I don't think he is concerned enough to have sour grapes. He's laughing because we are shipping him out and keeping Seb "I do great in friendlies" Hines.
http://eloncehn.com/index.php/2017/01/08/noticia6114/ 23y/o Honduran Bryan Acosta could sign with Orlando City after the Copa Centroamericana Not sure why we are going after a mid fielder. I thought we were pretty solid there. Wish he was a center back...
Any opinions on how Richie Laryea did in USL last year and if we can expect to see him getting playing time in MLS this upcoming season?
