I thought Lens was pretty good. He brought speed and the surprise element.

Bad news for Kuyt. Probably out for months with torn ankle ligaments.

Robben, Van Persie, Kuyt, Elia out with injuries, De Jong kicked out, and we still beat Sweden comfortably. That's strength in depth for you.

It's pretty ironic that we're known as the bad guys of football considering that no international team suffers as badly from injuries as a direct result of knocks than we do.

Speed was about the only good thing he brought. Surprise element? I think he was pretty predictable on his runs, plus he missed a sitter and had what, one decent cross? His passes were below par except when passing backwards.

Yeah, good thing the docter noticed it was bad, because if it wasn't for him Kuijt would have carried on playing. The man just won't stop. I hope he recovers soon.

Spot on. Lens just didn't cut it for me. Looked like a shorter version of Babel. Thank goodness we still have Robben and Elia at our disposal, and Afellay is just sizzling hot on the left wing. I think he has claimed his stake!

Hardly, he ran into the guy, no malicious intent. What's the big problem ??, did the Dutch commentators go crazy over nothing and you're making this assesment or what.

Well unfortunately you ARE divers, regardless of tonight. Seeing Holland play during the WC was quite disgusting. Robben dethroned C. Ronaldo in that tournament.

And it's both really, you dish it out but you can't take it, it's not sour grapes but the truth. The model version of this new Dutch football is Van Bommel. He plays dirty but falls down like a deck of cards when someone puts a hand on his shoulder.

Clear malicious intent. Pure frustration. 100%.

Also got to say I saw some nice dives from Van Bommel as usual. Especially funny was the first one when he just walked into Zlatan in the first half, dove down, and got a free kick. He's a specialist like no other.

I liked you better before the game Big Balls. Some players on our team dive (Bommel and Robben), every team has a couple of them.

Yes, some fantastic dives by Van Bommel, 10/10. The Italians should watch his specialist moves for their next fixture.

Your like or dislike of me is quite inconsequential

No, not every team has them. Again and again the Dutch fell down during the world cup. If I speak the truth and it hurts then fine, direct your anger towards me rather than being angry that your Dutch team is turning into a bunch of divers.

Haahahaahaha, what is this hypocrite doing on my forum. Zlatan was giving elbowes for free when he was at Ajax. He is one of the dirtiest players i know. Worse than de Jong. At least we take care of our bad apples, you tolerate yours, no even worse you deny their actions and talk them straight. Zlatan bulldozerd Heitinga and gave him a knee to the upper leg. Zlatan is a symbol of dirty actions and he has a long record of them.

You can be happy we didn't make the 5-0 when our attackers turned your defenders inside out and the 6-0 with a just offside goal. We had more difficulty with finland and i think that says a lot about the current strenght of Sweden. Tonight the boys got seperated from the men and i think Sweden has a long road to go before i can take them serious again. All you have left is to zoom in on v Bommel, but that doesn't change the fact that we outplayed Sweden for 70 minutes. Now take the whining to your own forum if it hasn't died out yet.

Excellent match! Congrats gents! (and ladies!). Totally off-topic but I was just curious, what is the song that is played right after the anthems, and at the end of the games for Oranje's matches. It sounds like it's an accordian playing with it, and the crowd sings along. I kinda like it.

Here's a bit of advice when you're posting anoymously on an internet forum, leave your emotions at the door. It'll make you look like less of a homer.

I've never said that Zlatan hasn't been a rough/dirty player. The tackle on Heitinga just isn't half as bad as you're making it out to be. Also this "our" and "your" logic you've got going on, neither of us (actually YOU and ME) are on either team and I don't take any shame in the boys losing to Holland away.

My image of Holland was something I had well before this match even started. Holland has become a rough playing team that resorts to diving when it suits them. I never knew this before the WC 2010 and they reinforced that image tonight. I used to think Holland played rough but also stood up and could take it.

Bloed, zweet en tranen - Andre Hazes. It means blood, sweat and tears.

He was a Dutch folksinger (don't know the proper phrase) who also made our unofficial Dutch Anthem

Afellay and KJH get all the glory, but surely Sneijder and VdV deserve a lot of credit too. Sneijder in particular had a few moments of brilliance that led directly to goals and scoring chances. Seeing this, I can't imagine BvM opting for De Jong again when he gets back. I wonder where he's going to fit in Van Persie too. It'd be stupid to take out Huntelaar if he keeps this up.

Problem is that both Robben and Van Persie like to play on the right side and come across to the left. If KJH holds onto the striker role (which I think he will given he finally has a club that is playing him the full 90), one of the two of them will be sitting.

What a nonsense... Holland won fair and square! No one even got carded so the rough play you mentioned is just stupid! May I remind you that the Swedes were the ones who got 2 yellow cards and Zlatan always had some screws loose in his head. To me it seemed the Swedish players got frustrated because everytime they tried to get the ball, VDV and Sneijder made a complete fool out of them. In some cases they were surrounded by three men, all by guys around 2 meters long so it's not that weird they fell down sometime. What would you do if you were harassed physically by lumberjacks?

It's fair to have complaints about the Holland team during the World Cup 2010 because, yeah, even the Dutch people themselves didn't like the way we played (maybe we were the biggest critics) but tonight (without butcher De Jong slowing the game down and with a far superior and creative man like VDV on his place) Holland showed some great promise again. Maybe could be the start of something beautiful...
