Mathijsen instead of Bouma what gives?

Has VB made any comments regarding this or a set team for Italy?

I feel like de Zeeuw and de Jong are both very solid backup DMs, I just wish we had somebody better at the position.

Melchiot and Heitinga pretty much shared duties for RB during qualificaiton. Seems like there is uncertainty about who will start? What gives?

Not a whole lot of depth in the back four. Heitinga is best in the middle, Melchiot is having injury problems apparently.

Robben has revealed the secret to his return to fitness and current painfree existence: he's sought the help of an osteopath recommended to him by the one and only Fredje Rutten who as a player was told he needed a hip replacement but could still play on without surgery thanks to said osteopath.

    Rutten in Oranje!

Perhaps Van Persie can give the osteopath a call as well.

    oh boy...oh boy.

I have turned that switch. We all agreed not to get to Hosanna BEFORE the tournament starts, but when the dutch anthem plays, we'll geek out like idiots of course. But oh boy. I've jumped the gun a couple of days :D

I suddenly realized that I can throw my entire EC-pool out the window. I'm officially a lost cause. No rational can save me now. We're gonna win it!!!!!

I'm like that too! Did you watch Jan van Halst on Holland Sport last night. I found myself agreeing with him that Italians can't defend! It's hilarious.

I didn't see that, but as you might know, I have (always had) an enormous love for the Italian football team, ESPECIALLY for their defenders...but this time...they're going down :D

so what line up do you guys expect VB to pick v Italy ?

    I was thinking

    Van der Sar
    Melchiot---Heitinga---Boulahrouz---De Cler
    Engelaar---Van Bronckhorst
    Van der Vaart
    Sneijder---Van Nistelrooy---Robben

is that the team you expect aswell ?

seems a lot of possibilities in defence with Melchiot, Ooijer and Heitinga as possibilties for right back and Ooijer, Heitinga, Boulahrouz, Mathijsen, Bouma options for centre back

for the DM positions it seems De Jong, Van Bronckhorst, De Zeeuw and Engelaar as options, with Sneijder also a possibilty once Van Persie is back

but the team above seems to me the most likely

thats what I can gather from my very limited knowledge of Dutch football. Am I making any mistakes ? would appreciate any corrections

can you also tell me what the Dutch think of Marco as a coach ?

Is he a clever guy, or do Dutch people think he's doing a bad job and is out of his depth ?
