@MLSAnalyst @JayPrimetown @101singer Check out my interview from 2014. I texted him today & we'll talk tomorrow https://t.co/Puh7uZiYFL— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) December 10, 2015 @Scotty
But the next FIFA window isn't until March 21-29th. Since he's playing in Belgium, he's unlikely to be released for a friendly.
I meant March friendlies for Israel. Does the Belgian League not release players for FIFA dates? My point is that he can't play for either til March, but with Israel having 2 friendlies in that window they might be more willing to bring in a young disenchanted prospect.
Of course they do. Your point makes more sense now. Without checking the calendar, I wasn't sure if Israel might have a friendly outside the window.
Reports are that Mexican youth-capped GK Jesse Gonzalez is going to participate in the USMNT's January camp. To play for the US, he would need a one-time switch. http://sbisoccer.com/2015/12/report-jesse-gonzalez-to-join-usmnt-january-camp
Looks like Jeremy Hall, former US U17-18 player, has switched to Puerto Rico. He's on the roster for the friendly against the US and I don't think he's been capped before. He played for the US in the 2005 U17 World Cup. He's currently playing in the NASL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Hall_(soccer)
Another US YNT player seems to have filed his one time switch and moved to Puerto Rico. Zarek Valentin, who was provisionally cap-tied to the US in 2011 CONCACAF U20 qualifying, has been called up for Puerto Rico: http://futbolboricua.co/lista-la-pr...ara-a-la-tercera-ronda-de-la-copa-del-caribe/
It's been a couple of (quiet) years since I updated the master list, so here goes: IN Teal Bunbury Edgar Castillo Julian Green Aron Johannsson Fabian Johnson Jermaine Jones Aaron Maund OUT Arturo Alvarez (to El Salvador) Dustin Correa (to El Salvador) Jeremy Hall (to Puerto Rico) Fuad Ibrahim (to Ethiopia) Gerson Mayen (to El Salvador) Nick Millington (to Guyana) Alex Nimo (to Liberia) Nevin Subotic (to Serbia) Zarek Valentin (to Puerto Rico) I'm surprised we haven't seen more on the OUT side of the ledger.
So did Gedion Zelalem file a one-time switch from Germany to the US? I see that in numerous sources online, but I can't seem to find evidence that he played in a competitive match for Germany youth teams; he actually withdrew from Germany U-17 Euro qualifying. Also, I wonder whether Julio Morales filed his one-time switch from Mexico to the US. He was on the verge of doing so but maybe he never actually did, seeing that he was only in USMNT camp and did not play in a match.
There was no requirement for Gedion to file a switch. He did request a waiver based on age/time in the US, but we have no reason to believe that limits his rights to file a switch to Germany or Ethiopia in the future. Lots of journalists and bloggers get confused about one-time switches and classify *any* movement from one national team to another as a one-time switch.
All good decisions (admittedly, in hindsight) except the first and last ones. Bunbury and Maund would likely be part of their original national teams today had they not decided to switch to the US.
Tony Taylor, who appeared with the US in the 2oo9 U20 WC finals, has switched to Panama: http://www.concacaf.com/article/tay...ce=twitter&utm_campaign=CONCACAF&sf37863715=1
Bolillo Gomez is getting desperate to find attacking players under the age of 30. (And it is not like this guy is a spring chicken either at 27.)
Seems Panama was a bit premature in calling up Tony Taylor as his one-time switch hadn't been approved: http://jmdeportes.com/la-sele/fifa-impide-el-debut-de-tony-taylor-con-panama/ (in Spanish) The Panamanian Football Federation (FEPAFUT) remains pending official approval by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) for the player, born in the United States of Panamanian parents, can wear the national shirt. The FIFA FEPAFUT sent all requested documentation about the footballing history of Taylor, player to dress shirt US in the U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009. At this time the case is in the hands of a single judge of the Players' Status Committee who will define whether Taylor can play for Panama. Taylor has Panamanian identity card and passport since 2008, a year before to play with the Under-20 United States. In fact, the player renewed his passport and it was attached to the documentation required by FIFA which includes a letter signed by him in which says it wants to play with Panama and which states that it has played with teams under their native country. The US Soccer (American Football) also sent his Panamanian counterpart a letter certifying that Taylor has not played with the national team A (high) and which includes all games in which he was with the U-20 and U-23.
While it's been a while since we had a one-time switch into the program, we look ready to add a couple for this summer's Gold Cup, assuming the players follow through: #USMNT preliminary Gold Cup roster: Goalkeepers and defenders. pic.twitter.com/wnqgAnHFDd— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 4, 2017 Jesse Gonzalez Kenny Saief And a switch ties them to the US regardless of whether they actually play for the NT.
I wonder if Bruce guaranteed Gonzalez a Gold Cup spot in exchange for a switch? It'd be damn bold to file it this young if not
Something has to be in the works. Gonzalez gives off the vibe he's going to go to whatever country is going to promise him the most.
Saief has filed his paperwork with FIFA: U.S. Soccer (via @stholden72): Paperwork submitted for Kenny Saief to make one-time switch. (Once you make switch, you can't go back.)— Paul Kennedy (@pkedit) June 4, 2017
