Bailly is expected to return for next weekend's match vs Spurs. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-injury-news-bailly-13790796
Good. We'll need him for that one. Can't believe I'm saying this but I hope Fellaini is fit for that one too. We need the extra body to play 3 in the midfield.
Looks like a quad injury for Jones. Now we have to wait to know the extent of it, but given the fact it looked like no one touched, it might not be good.
Latest estimates of our injured players: it's from PhysioRoom, don't think it's official, so make of it what you will... Fellaini and Bailly: 28 October Pogba and Rojo: 5 Nov Zlatan: 16 Dec Carrick and Jones: no return dates as of yet. Simply having Fellaini and Bailly back for Spurs will be a huge boost for us. And even it may not be pretty, they could be what we need to beat Tottenham at home. Jose already confirmed he expects Rojo to be back in 2 weeks, but if Pogba were to be ready at the same time, that would also be a major relief, since it's very clear how badly he's been missed. There are reports that Jones walked without crutches after yesterdays' game, but I guess the full extent of his injury is still unknown at this time. Fingers crossed, it will not be long.
He has been injury free for some time (came back at the same as AY). And he's been playing full games with the U23s. The latest update about him from Jose is that "he is working". Maybe he gets a start tomorrow?
I still think it's funny that you guys think Shaw has a chance to make it here. Ignore whatever bullshit Jose feeds the media. He obviously doesn't rate him and has to intention of making him a starter. That much should be clear by now.
Whereas going into the season, I was completely confident he'd get his starting place back at some point, I give it now a 50/50 shot at best. He's not really doing what a guy, who needs to really impress and win his manager over, should be doing (his only senior team appearance in the League Cup and his play with the Reserves are proof of that IMO). As such, it really wouldn't be much of a surprise to see us going for a LB either this coming January or in the summer...
Feeling good after today’s training session. Too bad I’m surrounded by these guys 🤣😂🤣😂 pic.twitter.com/a09vpvnHBC— Eric Bailly (@ericbailly24) October 24, 2017
Rashford and Herrera have emerged as slight doubts ahead of the Spurs game. www.espn.co.uk/football/manchester-united/story/3243122/manchester-united-to-assess-marcus-rashford-and-ander-herrera-sources Tight hamstring and ankle knock respectively. It also explains why they were subbed out yesterday. Can't afford any more losses really.
If Herrera misses, who the hell knows what we do in midfield. Tuanzebe at CDM maybe? None of our attacking players are capable of dropping back and playing that role.
Not sure if this is the type of game to experiment, but given how Herrera has performed so far with Matic in a mid 2, I would have been tempted to draft Tuanzebe in with those 2, in hopes of getting more out of Herrera. If Herrera is not available, there's one of 2 ways Jose could go: either play Tuanzebe and Matic in a midfield 2. There will be no creativity among them, but their job would mainly be defensive, get the ball back and look to get the ball as quickly as possible to the front 4 (kind of like Chelsea does it). Or we could go with a mid 3 of Matic, Tuanzebe and McTominay. I'd probably be inclined to go with Tuanzebe and Matic together. But either way, it would make things that much more difficult and would be satisfied if they could wrangle out a point.
Rashford picked up a knock before Liverpool and has been playing ever since. We need to shut him down especially if it's a hamstring issue. As for Tuanzebe it may not be a bad idea to play him in a back 3 again with Jones and Smalling as the other CB's.
Bailly's supposed to be back. I don't think there's any question about him starting, if he's fit. Not worried about him not being match fit either, he wasn't gone that long. He should fresh, if nothing else. That being said, going 3-5-2/3-4-3 might be the way to go, with our worries in midfield (with or without Herrera).
Some good news on the injury front at least: all 3 of Rashford, Herrera and Bailly are training ahead of the game vs Tottenham. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-injury-news-bailly-13814125
That asshat needs to stop jumping around until that hamstring is 100. If he pulls it doing Jesse's flute dance Jose might murder him.
Let's hope so, because he surely could it. Plus Martial on the left appears to be the better choice here, I think. It's a real pity that Fellaini is not back: would have liked to see a mid 3 (with Matic and Herrera) vs Spurs. Still a proponent of playing Tuanzebe in midfield though: I trust his ability and composure to handle it. And for containment purposes, the team could use him next to Matic (providing Herrera a bit more freedom himself).
wouldn't blame José for that. you have to hope he consults the medical team and that they assess players correctly and give him sound advice
Jose does not know when Pogba will return... www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11102962/jose-mourinho-has-no-idea-when-paul-pogba-will-return-but-marcos-rojo-back-in-november If that is actually, it has to be a bit of a worry at this point. Not only the length of the recovery the fact that it may be a recurring thing (he did miss some time at the end of last season for the same problem). And the teams' performances as of late only underlined his importance also. Knocking on wood here that not only he returns soon, but also that he puts this behind him also...
Some good news for our midfield. It's not Pogba (or even Fellaini) but Carrick is back in training. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-injury-news-carrick-13833887 Not only this is great news from a numbers perspective, Matic can finally look forward to some relief at some point soon. He's one of the guys who has played the most so far.
"We have to wait a little bit," says the boss, on the availability of injured players. "I prefer to say two more days to confirm." #MUFC— Manchester United (@ManUtd) November 2, 2017
