Shaw and AY are close to making their return. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-shaw-young-comebacks-13473688
Sadly, I probably would to. He may be shit on defense but at least he's fast enough to recover when he gets caught out of position. It's better than watching Blind trying to catch someone like he's running in quicksand.
In his press conference ahead of tomorrow's game, Jose mentioned that both Shaw and AY will play with the U23s early next week.
How far are they from first team action. The internationals come at a right time for them to get fit. Shaw needs to gain his spot by December or he ain't going to the World Cup.
If they're fit to play with the U23 team, they must be getting real close and their return to the first team should be within a couple of weeks max. Having them play with the youth team is really a matter of gaining some much needed match fitness.
Agreed. We've got Southampton on September 23 and Palace on September 30 -- useful tuneup matches for Liverpool on October 14. No need to rush him, however. Despite the undue stick our fullbacks get here we've yet to be carved on either flank.

Pretty funny indeed. Further evidence that the spirit in the group appears to be very good this season (as it was last season tbh).
Reports suggest hat Shaw looked pretty decent and lively. AY was not so sharp and visibly rusty. Shaw was given a 7, AY 5. Tuanzebe was given a 8 btw and was the best player on the pitch. Confirming that he's way beyond that level. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-news-luke-shaw-13509500

Marcos Rojo back in training. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...ley-Young-injury-news-training-sportgalleries August.
Will be interesting to see when Rojo will be ready to make his return in games. More than anything else, there's really no need to rush him and he can be brought back slowly and gradually, given the other options available at CB.
Hope this day never comes, but I wonder how he would perform as a left back in the new and improved squad.
If he ever played in that position at least the same way he used to with Argentina (at the WC in Brazil for instance), he'd be an option I would not hesitate to turn to after Shaw. The issue remains, he's come nowhere near that level (at LB at least) since he joined United. CB is the place for him and as mentioned, I just love the grit and fight he brings there. Relieved also that he eased up on the 2 footed lunges. And whether he's ready to play immediately or not, coming back to training from a knee injury after 5 months, shows toughness. I like that.
Absolutely no need to rush Marcos. Jones has started well although I'm sure we'll get another 4-5 weeks out of Phil before he's felled with injury -- which takes us to the first week of October. The earliest we should expect to see Rojo play in a competitive match is the end of October, but we'll see about that. We've got Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea over a four league game run beginning in mid-October and we'll need in-form defenders for that stretch. But after Chelsea we've got Newcastle, Brighton and Watford and presumably an EFL game in there somewhere in November, a month in which we might expect to see Marcos return.
Rojo may be back in training but he won't be ready to play a competitive game anytime soon. I wouldn't be surprised if he's training no-contact at the moment. He has a ways to go.
