as long as it's not beaujolais nouveau - that thursday was the most underwhelming experience i had in france. everybody was so excited, but the wine was absolutely wretched.
well, the bojo nuvo is never going to be great wine, it's not intended to be. but the problem is there's just too much of it made these days... not 20% too much or twice too much, about FIFTY TIMES too much. they fill planes and planes with it for japan, the states... the wednesday before that thursday is the busiest day of the year at satolas. they speak these days of the hint of banana ... but as bad as that sounds, to me it's more like those marshmallow candies with articial banana flavor! there is good stuff too, it's light, fresh, just slightly sparkly on the tongue... but even in old lyon it's become as rare as hen's teeth.
