How much of his "gone missing" is on him and how much is on his teammates (or offensive tactics) minimalizing his presence? How do you "go and demand the ball" from teammates who have other ideas? Hyndman is never going to be THE Man, very few players have that capacity. Your comments set his bar at an unrealistic height that ultimately say more about your outsized expectations that Hyndman's potential.
For about 75 minutes he looked like he was just out for a jog. He wasn't really making himself available or being particularly active until the last 20 minutes when Armstrong was off. There were numerous times where he looked quite intimidated by Brown and came off second best against the not-too-physical Callum McGregor a bit. But he popped up when he was needed.
I didn't the analysis was indicative of "outsized" expectations. OF Derbys are big, but most top teams (and many not top teams) have to go into intense game day situations. It's hard to disagree with that analysis. There was no suggesting Hyndman won't be able to do it in time, but he did not do it today. Not the end of the world. He also didn't collapse in the fetal position behind the goal. Kind of played the game you might expect from a young guy in a very important (esp for Gers) derby game, but at the same time it's not insane to think he did not play up to his potential.
