hehe a game of irony. As far as I'm concerned you're all Japanese here so no irony please :)

Anyway. Argentina game will be a fascinating one regardless of who plays on their side. It won't be a full strength Argentina, but still, I think this will stretch us backwards and forwards several times over. A great learning process, I hope.

I'm quite patriotic about Australia, I love where I live, Its the golden country, we have a good healthcare system, I live in one of the best cities in the world. I support them in other sports (because we rock!), but I honestly don't have any personal attachment for the football team, the Socceroos were not exposed to me enough, I watched other countries play and I had more attachment to them. I actually really want to support the Socceroos and Olyroos and I have tried, but there are not enough feelings there, I do have a soft spot for them but thats strong enough.

So when it comes to football, I'm more Japanese and German than Australian.

    Incredible

    Japan U23 0 - 0 Argentina U23 plus Riquelme, Aguero, Mascherano

    at half time.

The written commentary suggests very equal game and very similar amount of chances

Nothing incredible. Only one half has been played so far.
Both teams had some dangerous chances on free kicks.
Other than that Argentina is controlling the ball as expected.

True but read the lineups and I'd expect 2-0 by now.

I found the channel too late to see the goal, but the game looks very scrappy in general -- it's raining pretty decently.

I'm not entirely sure, but it looks like the refs have called the game at like 82m (not exact) due to weather -- the players, except Riquelme whose arguing with some officials, have all evacuated the field. I'm guessing lightning was spotted closeby.

Or maybe it's just a delay... I don't speak Spanish =P but the Japanese are only getting louder, so maybe it's not over. <shrug>

If you search long enough, you can find just about anything on justin.tv -- the problem, however, is that it's all ran by individuals with their own channel. So it's kind of trial and error finding what you want, especially with stuff like this. =)

When the players left the field, the game was only suspended, so Riquelme was probably arguing that they should just end it, which eventually did happen.
As I feared, when Japan started to attack they gave Argentina space and got scored on. They should have just fouled to break up the play, but it was a nice turn and shot in wet conditions. Keisuke Honda hit the post earlier on.

    highlights

    http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/tafc/

i watched the whole game on tv (the 84 minutes it had :/), here are some of my thoughts.

i thought japan played very well, especially considering it was against argentina. although argentina looked more confident in passing and moving the ball, japan had many chances too.

many of our best chances came from free kicks (won by uchida who was against japan's best player in the first half but was defended well by monson? in the second half) although honda hit the cross bar with a great curling shot. honda played well after disappointing a bit in the australia game.

i think morishige looked better than yoshida, kajiyama looked good too, but not sure about yasuda vs nagatomo.

it was a shame that the game was cancelled..

although i didnt expect much from sorimachi's team, this gives me some good hope for the olympics!

japan held their own against a world-class side. a good performance i think. this will give them confidence heading into the first game. i think sorimachi japan might just pull off a bit of a surprise!

for those not in japan, oinarisan has uploaded some highlights here...
