I read that Japan U-21 lost 2-1 to North Korea U-23. Woha, this is the second time Japan loses to the North Koreans in a few weeks... Anyway, why an U-21 would play and U-23??
Re: Official Youth (U20/21) Japanese NT Thread [R] If I remember correctly this U-21 team will be the squad that will be taking part in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Asian Games is being seen as a prepatory tournament of sorts. Whereas the North Koreans just want to win everything in sight maybe.
Re: Official Youth (U20/21) Japanese NT Thread [R] North Korea also had 3 overage players, and 9 players from their world cup qualifying squad all together. Its not just North Korea though, most of the teams are using U23 and overaged. Even South Korea brought overaged players. Not sure if they are U21 or U23 though. Hopefully this experience will allow Japan to get through the olympic qualifiers .
Re: Official Youth (U20/21) Japanese NT Thread [R] I just want to make everyone clear that this NT is different from U20 NT that played in AFC Youth Championship, lead by Manager Yoshida. That NT will become U21 next year and play the Youth World Cup. On the other hand, this Olympic NT (currently U21) is lead by Manager Sorimachhi and will play Olympics in two years, when they are U23.
Re: Official Youth (U20/21) Japanese NT Thread [R] http://www.nikkansports.com/soccer/japan/p-sc-tp2-20061222-133505.html U-22 Japan will face U-22 USA in an friendly in February.
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] Zainichi Korean Lee Chun Son obtained Japanese nationality. He was invited to U-19 South Korea's training camp in 2004 but he didn't made any appearances for the team, so he can play for Japan.

Re: [U-22 Friendly] Japan vs USA (R) You should run over this weak US squard. Most of European guys are not coming and some of the better players in US not being released.
Re: [U-22 Friendly] Japan vs USA (R) Why does Japan have a U-22 squad. Doesn't it usually jump from U-20 to U-23/Olympic?
Re: [U-22 Friendly] Japan vs USA (R) Forgive my naivete' , but is the match being broadcast anywhere on the web?
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] Great to see Cullen in the mix. As a young striker with a decent goal total over his brief time in the J-League, I think he has a bright future ahead of him. Hirayama and the "Korean" Lee Chun-Son should be fighting for the other striker spot, at least in my mind.
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] He's not Lee Chun Son anymore. Say hello to Ri Tadanari. Best of luck to him.
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] Any one know where we can watch this game (US U-23 vs. Japan U-23) on the internet? It is on later today.
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] nothing new as Japan still can't put the ball into the net. ok well one new thing is that they tried a 3-top but it still didn't result in putting the ball in the net.
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] oh well. just saw the highlight. hopefully they do better against our fellow weak asian opponets
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] I think it's great to see that Japan's NT has Irish and Korean blood in its squad... I really hope soccer can help to "normalize" the situation of gaijins and "mixed-blood" who live in Japan...
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] Please upload the highlights on YouTube... please?
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] not a chance Uyoku are dead set on their goals.
Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] The good thing about soccer is that it has the power to transcend political BS. I have trust in the future of a multiracial Japan. After all Ri and Cullen are not the first non-100%-Japanese in the NT. Anyway, enough, this is going OT...

Re: Official Olympic (U21-U23) Japanese NT Thread [R] Japan should have no problem to qualify. Of course, how it does in Final is another question. This US team is very weak, beside the goalkeeper or one or two guys, there are no chance to make the final roster.
