I'm listening to the press conference again. I think he's talking about Quique Flores when he's discussing the manager in his 50s. When asked about which Korean players he knew, he said SHM and KSY. He was apprehensive about going to Asia. KPG assured him that in Asia, he will succeed with the KNT. However, he was worried about having to move his family (children included) to Korea. So when they started discussing salary, KPG gave him our absolute maximum offer, and it just wasn't enough to counterbalance his concerns/apprehension.
That was Flores indeed. I think there would have been a huge chance of him leaving the job within two years. Shame.
kim pangon sensed one of the coaches had wrongful intentions and was using korea as negotiating tool most likely referring to youknowho. serious ******** this guy i hate the ********er
It seems like KPG did everything he could and then some to try to get the best manager possible. It couldn't have been easy working with a limited budget. I feel for him.
KPG further goes on to say that the other two serious candidates both said that in a month or two, there would be club positions opening up and that they wanted to sit back and wait to see what club offers they would receive. So in other words, here's how I'm accepting this decision. We have a lunch special budget. But we wanted to eat at a Michelin star restaurant. There's a new pop up restaurant with a chef trained at top restaurants that fell on hard times. He fits most of the criteria that KPG set out before the selection process. And he was willing to live in Korea and bring his staff. So if the best we can afford is the lunch special, then I could live with a damn good Bento lunch box special that hits the spot. It was surprising to hear KPG apologize for failing at attracting a top manager. But it was good to hear that Bento and his staff, collectively, asked for an office at Paju so that they can get to work. I hope this really is a building step in making Paju what it really needs to be. Doesn't sound like it from the description of the candidates that rejected KPG's offers.
can't get over everyone referring him to as lunch box On a serious note, I can't help but be disappointed that we ended up with Bento after Halilhodzic and Quique Flores were floated around, but he deserves a chance. He's got a better CV than Stielike, at any rate.
only had time for a short listen...predictable as in producing nothing special. the analysis of "if guy is a good fit or not" i'll leave that to others here but ...we shall see.
Cringe.... Sad how I wouldn't be surprised if a Korean journalist asks such question. I just hope third parties don't interfere with the coaching team's work. E.g. A processed food company asks Bento to advertise a bento box lunch, etc..
Yeah KFA instagram post about Paulo Bento and the 4 others on his staff mention that he is married with 2 children (not too sure about gender or age of the children)
If his kids are adults, maybe that explains (partly) why Bento does not have baggage about residing in Korea for work.
