This song doesn't really make sense. Is killing a deputy a worse crime than killing a sheriff? Therefore you don't want to confess to both? Did people just hate the sheriff so bad they'd forgive his murder?
That has always bothered me as well, so I read the lyrics. 1) He shot the Sheriff in apparent self-defense. The Sheriff always hated him and was "aiming to shoot me down" so "I shot, I shot him down" 2) He is being hunted for the killing of the deputy, which he did not do. If he did not shoot the Deputy, they should not try to pin the murder on him. I Shot the Sheriff I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy All around in my home town They're trying to track me down They say they want to bring me in guilty For the killing of a deputy For the life of a deputy, but I say I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense I shot the sheriff, and they say it is a capital offense Sheriff John Brown always hated me For what I don't know Every time that I plant a seed He said, "Kill it before it grows" He said, "Kill it before it grows", I say I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self-defense Freedom came my way one day And I started out of town All of a sudden I see sheriff John Brown Aiming to shoot me down So I shot, I shot him down, I say I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy Reflexes got the better of me And what is to be must be Every day the bucket goes to the well But one day the bottom will drop out Yes, one day the bottom will drop out, but I say I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy, oh no I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy, oh no Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Bob Marley
Baby, chuck me a molotov cocktail! I'll catch it and go up in flames I'll get you out of here, when the city burns And you set my car ablaze
Ben, might I suggest you listen to some Beefheart. You know, just to burn a little of the carbon off the plugs.
I think I might go to Lafayette Indiana tomorrow. No reason just see where Axl Rose was born and i heard about a good diner.
Freedom? It's Saturday. I think pretty much anyone with a car could pick up and drive somewhere different for a day. I feel like I should do it more often. Any travel that requires me to deal with airplanes and airports seems more hassle than it's worth
My job, wife, 3.5 year-old and 2 month-old disagree with this statement. Oh to be young and ignorant again...
