At Brownstock. My school has a giant festival of student bands all day on the last day before spring break. There was a band called "Zombie Attack" or something like that and they were really good.

I just wanted to point out that there is German music out there that is still meaningful :D

  5. Funny that German music is the current topic. I thought I'd tweet this album cover to the tifo builders and then said to myself, "Crap, why don't I listen to the album." It brought back late 70's memories of Douglas Hall at NIU.

I will admit listening to Rammstein and the Scorpions. Kraftwerk was always a little strange to me.

If you think that's strange I've got a video of a German guy and a stuffed animal raccoon to sell you.

My better half and I went to see Kraftwerk last year at the Riveria and, even though they are in their 60's, it was FANTASTIC. Really, really good concert. Actually, I would say it was beautiful.

When my ex and I took her nephew to see Rammstein in 1996 or so (at the Odeum in Villa Park!), it was an incredibly gay concert (not there is anything wrong with it), with Till Lindemann (lead singer) dry humping the keyboard player and then pulling out a giant (I mean 2 meters or so) inflatable phallus and "cumming" (probably shaving cream) all over the first 10 rows or so.

Next to us was a father who had brought his son and actually put his hand over his son's eyes and then left in disgust. That was hilarious.

Edit: 1,000 reps to @willydonc for the Kraftwerk link.

Wow! I had no idea. I like the guitar riffs on Du Hast. Didn't know about the rest of the performance.

As a fluke of history most of German bands who are more known internationally arent that famous in the country itself. E.g. Kraftwerk and the Scorpions. Thats why they translated their work or sang in English right away. The exception is perhaps Rammstein. Sang in German and are popular in Germany as well.

Nena was internationally a one-hit-wonder but in Germany had 2-3 more songs that were pretty successful too. The last German artist to become somewhat a viral internet thing was Cro
