I can't believe they actually did it. I don't know how to feel right now.

How to feel right now? I feel like Starbuck if he'd seen Queegeg get up with angry exasperation, mutter "Eno' dis Crap!", and summarily push Ahab into the dark briny deep just as the Captain was about to order the Pequod into its suicide run against the might of Moby Dick....... ;)

I hear you. I'm just stunned that they actually made the move, no matter how obvious it was that it was long overdue. This organization has for so long ignored the obvious, failed to invest enough in the product, treated its most ardent supporters with disdain, and let the league's evolution pass it by that I fully expected them to just continue with business as usual.

As awful as this season has been from a results perspective, this could be the time when things actually change. I say that with extreme skepticism, but...Friedel and Burns dismissed; the rumors around Arena and the stadium (I'll believe it when I see it, but could you imagine if we got an Arena AND a stadium!!); the treatment the team has been taking on sports talk radio; and the voices of the fans online, in the stadium and communicated directly to the team (cheers to the supporters for all the efforts...I did the only thing I could do - sent my account rep a very professional, polite and detailed email why Friedel could not be the only casualty and a culture change was desperately needed)...if this season spurs actual, seismic organizational change, then it could all be worth it.

I was trying to explain to my wife what this means. instead of a future in which we are bad, and getting worse, with no end in sight, and no one at the top who cares - now there is the possibility of a new direction.

Now, in the ideal scenario, Kraft does an internal rebranding, in which he gives the next General Manager the chance to change the culture. A chance to say we are pro-player, pro-fan, and pro-club, and will start working immediately to make this a team everyone wants to play for, a team everyone wants to watch, and a team that will inevitably become champion.

Great news - finally!! I might even start going to games again! It at least gives me something to be hopeful for with this team, which hasn’t been the case for years.

My guess is Burns wouldn't have been fired unless negotiations with his successor were pretty much finalized.

All I can say is that the Krafts must have been paying attention the last several weeks.

I've got mixed feelings about Arena.

Just reference to Twellman's tweet and other sources citing that Arena is being considered for both roles.

Great news about Burns. Obviously way overdue.

I hope it takes a couple of days for the deal with Arena to be finalized. While I think he’ll be good for the Revs I need to do a brief self-intervention to exorcise all my deeply held “Arena is a pompous ass and I want to smack that self-satisfied look off his face” feelings. Well, at least, now he’ll be our pompous ass. Go Revs!

Fully expect Bruce Arena to be named in at least one capacity if not BOTH capacities of GM/Coach for #NERevs this week. Stay tuned. #MLS

Personally I don't like Bruce. He is an egotistical arrogant asshat. That said in MLS all he does is win. If they announce his hiring at GM I can see this either going very badly and lasting a year or this team as a whole gets turned around and could become a force in MLS

WOW!!! This made my day. (Always a bit sorry for the individual and associated family members involved, but sorry this has been long overdue.)

I too have mixed feelings about Bruce -- but he will put us back on the map in terms of being serious. You can argue with his personality, but his results have been pretty good.

Still love his talk to the National team before game at WC in Korea: "First tackle, first foul, first goal" Love the mentality.

Hope it is Bruce or someone of that pedigree and looking forward to the change in team mentality and ability to attract (and obtain) new players.
