A good sign. When I realized that ticket deposits were selling THAT fast I went back and upgraded my GA deposit for Premium. Premium deposits pick first.
Site plan was filed today: ftp://ftp.ci.austin.tx.us/ATD_AULCC/AULCC_2019/FY2019/AULCC%20Agendas%202019/190627/PLAN/AULCC_Austin%20FC%20Stadium%2010414%20McKalla%20Place%20-%20PLAN%2001.pdf
So, that low-income apartment complex that was going to be built right beside the stadium is no longer in the plans? And they're not at least building any multistory parking? Just surface parking?
I don't see it, no. At least on this site plan. Bear in mind the final lease agreement with City of Austin didn't require housing to be constructed at the same time as stadium, nor even on-site. Verbiage is: "affordable housing units to be developed on up to one acre on the southeast portion of the Land or other mutually agreed location (including off-site) within four years of Substantial Completion." Source: http://austintexas.gov/sites/defaul...m_Lease_and_Development_Agreement__Final_.pdf My best guess is we'll see the stadium first - then within four years PSV will partner with Foundation Communities on an off-site development.
Saw an article that said late summer construction start was the target. Is that still accurate? If so, you guys are getting close to seeing it happening. Exciting stuff.
Seems to be on track yes. Here's a recent update: https://communityimpact.com/austin/...ar-ahead-of-planned-september-groundbreaking/
There's a link in that article to the comments back to PSV from the City of items that need to be addressed: https://abc.austintexas.gov/attachment/attachmentDownload.jsp?p=rhL9yeJHMmUCynYV0gpaHYQlUeakbjOS5oWueW5EJIq7inE+sPiJJR3CO38Fn9WPo5kPrLtpNNQ99N8odRilE96Fkxe7Rqjt5R/QEX6qcGWovI9oigkc5srgwstctltX As I have never looked at anything like this, let alone for a project the size of the stadium, I have no idea if this is a reasonable number of issues. But I have to admit that some of them look neglectful. For example:
I have some experience here. On a project this size these are by no means 1) an unusual amount of comments or 2) type of comments. There's always a bit of back and forth between architect and City.
That's kinda what I expected. Thanks! I was just amused by a few of the comments seeming borderline snarky.
Stadium porn update below. 3D model, new renderings, and a glimpse at the VR "experience center" : A few more angles... #AustinFC pic.twitter.com/V5eVuR1sRV— Chris Bils (@ChrisBils) August 6, 2019 There’s also this 3D model of the stadium that I had to be pulled away from multiple times. Very soon if not already. The initial site plan was approved last week. I imagine they'll do some site prep/clearing then get the suits in for an "official groundbreaking" golden shovel photo op. See: https://abc.austintexas.gov/web/per...olderrsn=12156600&t_currentPropertyRSN=168714
Heard on the news this morning that they're having a press conference today to announce the timeline.
Still amazed at the extreme taxpayer support that Columbus ladled out in its panic, Yet to be opened2021, AUS - $240m (0%)2021, FCC - $250m (21%)2022, CLB - $280m (50%)2022, NSH - $345m (35%)2022, MIA - $1B (but includes hotel & residential, etc.)— Tutul Rahman (@tutulismyname) September 10, 2019
For the 100th time, zero taxpayer money goes to the stadium project in Columbus. That guy is either a hack or is just off. The county money is all for the transformation of Mapfre to a community park (with the Haslams paying for the training facility portion entirely. The city and state are kicking in some for the surrounding development (commercial, housing, retail, infrastructure) to the stadium. But it is 100% privately funded. Congrats on the groundbreaking.
