Scored a brace in the first game of the season. I hope he can join the first team for Audi Cup this summer.

why does this regulation exist? To incentivize K-league clubs to invest in youth? (HHC)

So young footballers don't start off in other leagues (J-league).

most countries with any kind of power implement these measures not just in football, but across any industry to maintain their sovereignty and prevent a "brain drain". Without these rules then there would be a mass exodus of talent in their field to the places that have the most resources/power/money - aka the Anglo/Europe world, thus meaning they would never have the chance to develop their own industries and be stuck in "3rd world" status forever.

"Korean" institutions/businesses like the K league would make even less money and there would be no investment capital coming in.

this is why most countries have "foreign" player caps to ensure that the youth in their country have a future in their own "home" country.

I assumed better leagues did not have such regulation in place.

Exactly, no matter how you look at it, this rule doesn't make sense.

Actually reverse. It forces young guys to turn down offers abroad for more money with the threat of inability to come back to Korea if it doesn't work out.

I think there was a wave of guys going to Japan and this rule was invented but it really hurts kids who don't pan out in Europe. And the counteraction was the more convoluted transfers like Lee Jin Hyun where he can technically satisfy the requirements to come back and play for K league.

Strangely, media say that he will go to K-League or J-League. It's nowhere written that he isn't allowed to go to the K-League.

except Liverpool didn't bid for Vida & all the credible Liverpool sources state Liverpool aren't interested in signing a defender this summer.
