    Nice goal by Harakawa

The Thai team looks pretty formidable and they had a couple of dangerous chances to score. Need to beat Korea to get the top spot

It's amazing that Fukai is starting at this age level.

    He's only 16.

It's a shame that we won't see him in the J-League for 2-3 years.

    He'll probably be a 2種登録 next season.

But it's difficult to see him getting playing time, especially if Consadole he promoted.

It's no big deal, they were already qualified and the coach played it safe to make sure they'll be keeping their great goal differential.

I know, but I was hoping for once that one of our youth teams would finally get some balls and beat SK for once. I mean, when was the last time? 2007? I guess it's still a huge mental hill for them to climb, I think, as they were on paper the "strongest team" in their group up until the game against Korea (and maybe the Thailand game too)

Looks like they played pretty well actually. I wonder if Kubo was really offside, it was a well built goal. He could have scored when he had a similar chance later.
Can't feel angry towards Kushibiki, those kinds of shots are difficult to firmly stop.

Heh, typical of Korea to win with their longball tactics. That was a nice "one-two" with the header assist, good job by the scorer

The CB marking the goalscorer was WAY off his man, gave him like 2.5m of space in the box, not good enough.

A little disappointing qualification tourney given (a) how the U17's did and (b) how we need to see Japanese Youth NT's reach the top tier in world youth tournaments.

Basically the U-17 World Cup team plus a couple of new faces like Nikki. No Ueda or Iwanami though which is quite interesting, maybe injuries? There seems to be a couple of key players missing (Fukai and Ishige) so I'm wondering if they had other commitments.

Ueda and Iwanami are on the verge of starting a pro career, Fukai has played with the U19, I think he doesn't want to overwork them.
Plus, I think the purpose of this is to see a lot of players in order to make a final choice for the important tournaments coming.

Ueda is still a second year so one more year until he goes pro. He'll probably do a Shibasaki and train with the team he signs with for a year until he graduates. Plus his school didn't qualify for the tournament so he should have some free time. Maybe he's using this time to figure out which pro team to join.

Kawaguchi is in a similar situation with Fukai so I don't agree with that excuse. I think he is not there because of the premier league final is coming up.

If he has an offer from Kashima he shouldn't even blink, they handled Shibasaki very well.
Fukai is younger, maybe he wants him to rest ... meh I don't know you're right, I forgot about the J.league Youth Cup.

I agree that Kashima would probably be the best choice.

I was a bit worried with Shibasaki at the beginning of the season because he wasn't playing, but now he's a regular and I can see him being called up in the next 1-2 years if he continues to play well.

I'm already drooling thinking about a Shibasaki-Yamamura volante pair in midfield. Definitely two of the best young midfielders in Japan and I would not be surprised if we see that line-up on match day 1 of next season.

Kashima is a good choice because they are a title-challenging team, but they desperately need some new CB's soon. Without a doubt, Ueda will be integrated a quickly as possible.

yeah. It's surprising to see how fast Shibasaki has matured. This kind of elegant but fragile players have usually troubles making the transition to the pro level but instead, he turned into a very agressive midfielder who's not relunctant to make fouls when he has to. He plays like a veteran, that's a good sign.

How is Shibasaki at volante on his defensive play? Haven't seen the lad play for a while now.
