For anything Ekstraklasa, you can find it here :D

Here is the ball that will be used the next 2 seasons, it is pretty neat in my opinion. Looks pretty advanced in terms of technology. Because of the material it will be resistant to knicks, cuts, etc and also since it is stitched by hand it will reduce the amount of water absorption. There will be less stitches because of the panel setup which is supposed to allow players to have more control than in previous models, and with the wider grooves in the ball it should make the ball quicker as well as allow it to travel longer distances than before. All in all, it should help make the Ekstraklasa a bit easier on the eye. It will be interesting to see who sells these balls, and for how much. I know I am a bit curious, and would be potentially interested in one.

in the first big match of the year, in my opinion... Polonia (aka Groclin) took on Legia in the Warsaw derby. in a huge statement, Polonia lays the hammer down with goals by Bruno, Smolarek, and Mierzejewski in their 3-0 win over Legia  i sort of thought Polonia would be good this good, but to win like this? wow-wee-wee-wah :p congratz to Groclin ;)

Just out of curiosity, BMike, why do you call Polonia "Groclin"?

here are the results after today's action

    Korona Kielce 1 - 2 Widzew Lodz
    Ruch Chorzow 2 - 0 Wisla Krakow

Legia and Cracovia still have to play tomorrow. the win by Ruch was well deserved, their keeper was man of the match in my opinion. Wisla definitely need to find their new manager ASAP, or Kulawik needs to figure out the squad a bit better. his decisions were average at best, and the Pawelek we all grew to know and love came back today :p

cracovia blows a 1-0 lead, and falls to Legia 2-1 :p i don't think i necessarily like the idea of either side winning, unfortunately neither side spontaneously combusted ;)

Groclin is a force so far, no surprise considering the players they have, and have brought in. they have been most impressive so far and it would be no surprise at this point if they win it all. also 2nd through 5th are sides expected to challenge for the title, all within a point of each other so far. still a bit to early to see who are legitimate contenders or pretenders. but if i were to take a stab at it on current forms, i would say Wisla is a pretender.

in other news for the EK, 15 of the 16 clubs this term have e-shops which is better than in years past. some e-shops have been open for several years, while others are new. this is great news since it seems all of europe has these things open for the better part of the last decade. with the ekstraklasa growing (in my opinion), in regards to the new stadium publicity, more sponsors have been coming the last handful of years, and also with the Euros almost around the corner. a lot of publicity will come to poland and the ekstraklasa. with the league getting e-shops out there, it will help the potential demand that may grow these next few years. i feel it is a good thing. who is the one club that does not have a site according to this compiled list? Polonia Bytom :p

here are the results from this past weekend

    Wisła Kraków 2:2 Korona Kielce
    Lechia Gdańsk 1:0 Jagiellonia Białystok
Górnik Zabrze 1:0 PGE GKS Bełchatów
    Widzew Łódź 5:2 Śląsk Wrocław
KGHM Zagłębie Lubin 2:1 Legia Warszawa
    Polonia Bytom 1:0 Ruch Chorzów
    Arka Gdynia 1:0 Jagiellonia Białystok

all the home sides won this weekend, except for Wisla, also... the Polonia/Lech match is being put off for a few weeks, and will be made up later. likely due to their European fixture conflicting.

    Hello Polish friends

My friends, Saint-Etienne fans, still live in the 70's and their dream is a Polish defensive midfielder with a moustache (ah, the vintage porn !). Do you have this ? :D

    hey!

i was wondering, if i can get any information regarding the most talented/ the most proven defensive midfield actors in the ekstraklasa. i'm not that familiar with your league and hope to get a few fan-opinions. as we all know, they know it best .

if possible, rate your (3) favourites for that position and also try to say why. or let me put it this way: is there any midfielder you would like to pick from another team in your league?. (if your first choice already plays in your squad don't hestitate to let me know *hehe*)

i wish you all the best for the big summer event and hope you can achieve a little bit more than the last hosts.

    best regards
