Yeah, how do you go back to the basics if you've never been?

That's a good signing for the Mariners. Although he's gotten on with age McBreen's shown that at least he'll have a crack at goal when he knows he has the space.

Interesting to hear graham arnold (former sanfrecce hiroshima player) talk about how he would like to mould this team. He did describe a very japanese style of play.

Passing midfield game with a good no.10 midfielder. With running fullbacks to compliment the wide game. 4-4-2 diamond. Very japanese. I'm interested to see how this goes.

It amazes me that Arnold is actually talking so brashly about what he wants to achieve. I'd be the first to roll my eyes and say "Graham Arnold - at the Mariners. At least he isn't anywhere near the Socceroos any more". But by the sounds of it things do sound promising and I hope he gets his wish to mould the team into an outfit he wants.

This is one of the reasons I've praised Central Coast for getting Arnold; he's made what look like some great new signings so far.

Ange has made a few as well, come to think of it. Must be the whole, "I've seen the Australia talent pool unlike most other A-League coaches; I know what's out there and who can be drawn back."

I might end up having some time for some extra teams this season.

    It has to be acknowledged:

    'Mariners Break Heart'

The first time of what will be many times we see that pun.

(Similarly, the Mariners 'sailed away' with the spoils last night)

There is now an article showing stats and subsequent analysis for the Mariners v Heart game up on Stattoz.

The influence of Graham Arnold was interesting.
