It's no coincidence that our best form of the season was when we played 4-5-1 with Muamba and NRC in the middle. Coyle can't help reverting to type however and he takes Muamba off for Kevin Davies and goes to 4-4-2 when we are 0-0 against Norwich. We lose 2-0. Today he plays 4-4-2 without Muamba and we get nobbed by Wigan. The man is a fool.
Truly, a footballing simpleton. It's now clear he has no idea what he was doing right last season and is just relying on the players to bail him out every game.
Dare I say the warning signs were there? When your central midfielders are #1 and #1 respectively in the tackles league table you know you have a problem.
Well that was the thing - the Muamba-Holden 10,000hp Midfield Engine worked. But he had nothing for when the personnel weren't available. Sturridge bailed us out last season and he couldn't find a replacement on the transfer market. He's stupidly loyal to players and seems to regard any shift away from 442 as a temporary fix. A 4-5-1 gets us our first wins against both Merseyside teams in years but it doesn't work against Norwich so he drops it for a system that has got us sweet fanny adams all season. I wouldn't mind this if he showed any sign of learning but I'm just not seeing it.
Check in on Holden's rehabilitation Stu himself will show you what he is doing and how it is all going http://youtu.be/0gk5Kov55aw
Nearly half time vs Chelsea. We're back to 4-5-1 and while we're being dominated in possession Chelsea have had a few clear cut chances.
Wasn't expecting much from that. Chelsea aren't great but they're not Arsenal Bad. At least we didn't break Torres' duck.
A 2-1 win against Blackburn. Saldy the scousers lost against Wigan. We're out of the bottom three but it's tight down there. Pretty good performances all round though I thought Bogdan had his dodgy moments and Ngog worked hard but made all the wrong decisions.
They are under the delusion that Carrol,Adam and Downing (what's that..? 70 million quid in transfers ?) can take 'em to the promised land...
I'm not sure they are to be honest. Usually I'd have them up there in the delusional stakes with the Geordies but I think there's only one person in Liverpool who rates those players... 'King' Kenny. Good on him
I agree with what has been said and I think that due to having gained a europa spot thanks to the carling cup, they really don't seem to be playing for anything in their matches if there isn't a cup at the end of it.
A 2-3 win away at Wolves gives us our first run of 3 straight wins since 2006. It's still very tight down at the bottom but we have a game in hand over the bottom three. It was still a pretty poor performance from the team though as without Bogdan Wolves would have been well out of sight. Great dive by Mark Davies to win a penalty too
Nothing's ever easy is it? I was shocked to see we'd gone 3-1 up, then shit myself at 3-2, had to listen to shitty Tower FM commentary. It's unbelievable how incapable we are of keeping possession and seeing a game out. Although when you're missing three of your midfield to long-term injury there's only so much you can do. Two six-pointers won in a week and we're still only one point above the drop, this one's going to go all the way to the wire.
Beaten 3-0 at home by bogey team Fulham. Marcos Alonso yet again showing he was not worth the £2.5 million we paid for him and would be more at home playing sunday league. Ngog - £4 million Alonso - £2.5 million Eagles/Mears - £3 million Sordell - £4 million That's a waste of neraly £15 million on shite.
Eh, Dingles and Pies lost so we can call this one a write-off if United do right by us. Though then we play Newcastle.
Okay Newcastle buggered us (as usual) but something even more amazing happened yesterday: http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/9638426.Muamba_set_to_return/?ref=mr Though if I was Moo I wouldn't want to get back on a football pitch until I knew what had caused my heart to stop in the first place.
