What is the status on Gago? When is he going to be ready?

Who knows? It's sad to see a great player break down, but Gago is broken. When he can play he is quality. Will he ever get fixed? That is the question.

I don't agree. I watched Gago since he came up through Boca's youth system, and when he is healthy he is very good. Problem is, he hasn't been healthy in a long time.

Cata renewed with Boca for two years. He'll be 39 when the contract ends. I guess then maybe he can go to MLS.

Yeah Gago is just fragile, which is a legitimate criticism IMO. Glad Cata is staying. MLS didn't make sense for him.

According to sources at Boca, Fernando Gago should be healthy enough to start the preseason training alongside his teammates.

Meet Boca's new left back, Jonathan Silva. The former Estudiantes player is coming from Sporting Lisboa on loan for 7 months. There is a clause that would allow him to play the Copa Libertadores final if Boca makes it.

Who will start, him or Monzon?

Silva should project as a starter. Monzón is probably on his way out. Boca's option to keep him costs 2.8 million and most likely they won't pay it.

Boca started training camp with two reinforcements, both defensive. Jonathan Silva and Leonardo Jara.

A third reinforcement would be striker Danni Osvaldo, who should be joining the team within the next couple of days. AM Pachi Carrizo returns from Mexico and is expected to contribute.

Players who are leaving include Fabian Monzon, Jose Fuenzalida and Jonathan Calleri.

Isn't Osvaldo kind of a problem? He performed better than I thought he would last time, but he's still a clown feaux artist. I don't know, I don't think I'd want him around, I'd love to see Tevez beat the shit out of him.

Well, Osvaldo helped energize Boca and keep pace early in the tournament until Tevez came along and took over, and he helped Boca easily win its Copa group. He did freak out a bit at the end. But he wasn't part of the problem, he didn't play the one game they lost to River, except I believe he came in for a few minutes at the end, and that was really Boca's only real failure last season.

As far as Tevez beating the shit out of him, I wouldn't count on it. Seems like they got along very well when they played together at Juventus. In fact word is it was Tevez who talked him into coming back.

Boca is working on bringing Chaco Insaurralde to help boost the central defense. A bit rústico perhaps, but he's a tough guy who I expect can contribute.

Pichi Erbes has an injured left knee and will miss time, at least a couple of months.

Does looking at that video make you feel better?

If you include all the games Osvaldo started in the Grondona of 30 teams, the Libertadores and Copa Argentina, they won most of them. That was one of only two that they lost.

At any rate, I don't remember riBer beating Aldosivi either. I do remember Boca -with Osvaldo in the lineup- beating riBer 2-0. And I remember Boca winning the title.

I like this video of Osvaldo...

And lets watch one of Carlitos too...

    To be continued...

Cheers, riBer gaucho. It should be another fun year for Boca and riBer in 2016. Maybe if you're lucky, saBiola and aimar will return.

From what I have read, we aren't going to let him go this season and Real haven't made a formal approach. Bentancur's father said that he was happy and settled at Boca, and was enjoying his time and development here. If they offer that money then I'd 100% take it, but wouldn't expect him to leave just yet.

My friend... I love that you love argentine football from a distance... But I think you messed up badly in your club selection. That being said- why did you buy a Osvaldo jersey? I mean... Even the most die hard bostero would tell you that was a strange purchase... Tevez? riquelme? lodeiro?

I'm honestly blown away by the osvaldo factor and I can't believe Boca fans buy his shirt- especially from the Balkans. Was there a give a way sale or something?
