In which we discuss the playoffs.
    • Atlanta seems a bit lost without their engine, Almiron. They also seem to be going into a bit of turmoil as players and coaches head for the exits. Furthermore, the Shield winner never wins the Cup.
    • SKC rely too much on hard work and long shots and not enough on breaking down opponents.
    • NJ is NJ.
    • DC is unstoppable at home but it hasn't yet demonstrated that it can win on the road.
    • Dallas relies on creating their own luck...an absolutely terrible playoff strategy.
    • Seattle has proven it can beat up on crappy Western teams and nobody else.
    My predictions:
LA beats Montreal for the star.

Montreal won't even qualify for the playoffs. Book it.

That depends on whether Zlatan heads to Real Madrid during the International Break.

Why is it that I feel like this thread can still jinx it somehow?

But seriously, I feel like we match up well to Columbus, NYCFC and Atlanta. Although I wouldn't necessarily want to go into Atlanta in front of 70,000 people on turf with the series on the line.

Red Bull obviously has our number, and they've already gotten 4 points from Audi Field in 2 games. But the most recent 3-3 game suggests that we at least have figured out how to break their press and create goal scoring chances.

As for Philly, for some reason the games against them always feel like low scoring stalemates. Any series against them would be tight, but I'd rather travel to Philly in an elimination game than Atlanta.

re " SKC rely too much on hard work and long shots and not enough on breaking down opponents." Since that was our strategy for the last 5 years - at least the hard work part, I hope we get some transfer money or at least FAM dollars for the " hard work" without game time strategy strategy.

We struggle on crap fields. Advantage NYC and Atlanta.

I, personally, fear matching up against Philadelphia no matter whether it's an away or home game. The Union has some good offensive players, a stout defense and a smart coach. In the Wildcard game, I feel that we can take NYCFC or Columbus. Montreal, on the other hand, I'd have confidence but some genuine concern. Piatti is a very dangerous player and, in a one-off, he could pull off a brace or a hat trick.

I will state for the record that the only team I'm afraid of is Jersey.

I only fear Philly. I mean, United could lose to anybody, but Philly is the only team that played them off the pitch during this recent run. Seems a bad matchup, and Philly has no fear of United, so hoping to avoid them.

The only jinx I fear is the 2005 "Blackout" playoff shirts.

I was wearing one of mine the other day ....... while spraying bleach mixture on my AC after taking it out of the window and before storing it.

Can't risk a good shirt on that type of stuff :)

But that shirt is accurate. We have won more trophies than even the LA Gals.

You know. Until the first game I went to at Audi Field, the Open Cup final for We Win Trophies was the last game I’d been to. It was a searing scar to have brought some newbie friends along and have our goalie chomp like a prhiana.

I'm being a negative nancy by bringing up the fact that all of the mentioned cup and playoff t-shirts were giveaways to the fans while this new t-shirt it looks like you have to purchase it. I'd love to be proven wrong.
