When I read that Kato sounded promising, but then I read this:

"He is a similar player to (Cerezo Osaka midfielder) Hotaru (Yamaguchi), although not as powerful, and he is a good passer of the ball," the Bosnian added.
That makes him sound like a weaker version of Yamaguchi.

If that is the case, then I rather Yamaguchu play. I also hope that Konno is only going to be playing for these few games. Japan should be looking at alternatives to him, Konno cannot last 90mins consistently in WC next year imo, similar to Endo in 2014.

Everybody thought the same with Endo back then. Everyone thought Endo could perform despite his age but he did not. He ended performing badly in 2014 WC. It is best to try more and better alternatives instead of blindly relying on 1 or 2 players which are either aren't that good or too old next year like Konno. Kato plays in the Bulgarian league which imo is not even as good as the J league.

Kato won't play when it will matter anyway.

I don't know why you're burying that guy when most of the forum has been asking for Seto for years, mostly on the basis of not having see him play (it's easier to fantasize about his level that way :ROFLMAO:). Kato is better, though it's not saying much, Seto is a guy like you can find 250 in J.League.

And comparing leagues is irrelevant and impossible.

man whatever. i just wanna see the dude (Kato) play, congrats to him. Vahid said he (or the staff?) went to Bulgaria 4 times to watch him, I imagine he does bring something to the table.

Is it only me or is the midfield (if we count Honda as a forward) really weak this time?

Well, just qualify, the roster will never satisfy any of us 100 %.

Let's hope it'll be enough. A win is crucial, could mean 99% of qualification to WC2018.

Usami has been officially added to the roster, having trained with the team for the past few days.

Always a better assessment than the shitty stream you find on roja directa every two weeks. If a player trains well during the week, you reward him during the week end. Stupendous !

I heard Arsenal is interested now in Usami. They heard about him being good on the trianing field. Cool.

If there is a Japanese striker they are picking, it should be Yuya Kubo. Anyway, both of them would be warming the bench for Arsenal.

Kagawa off early with a dislocated shoulder and replaced by Kurata.

If Nakamura doesn't start against Syria in a friendly game, you have to wonder WHEN he may start.
