I almost think you should start that 2018 thread @TrickHog to give us something to look forward to. ANYTHING.
Sam Stejskal @samstejskal Just asked an MLS higher-up if he sees any way Sigi survives these repeated beat downs. One word response: "Can't."
Well Ciani (I don't care if I spelled his name correctly) is certainly channeling the ghost of Eduardo Dominguez as a major midseason defensive signing failure.
On the one hand I think it would be terribly unfair, Sigi was handed a fundamentally flawed team. On the other hand I don’t care anymore. Salt the earth and start again.
Pretty much agree. Although if there were any way (and I don't think there is) to keep JDS without keeping Gio, I would add him to that list. But if it means keeping Gio, the price is too high.
This is where I am too. Realistically, we're building for 2019 so I'm not counting on Alessandrini. I usually keep a checklist of things we need to do in the off-season but at this point we just need to get rid of Klein, Vagenas and Sigi. I don't think Sigi (and Dom) are bad, but they were old MLS coaches and I'd like to see someone new and more engaged with international soccer. Then start looking in the summer of 2018 for new DPs.
Agree. Bringing in Sigi was OK as an emergency stop-gap, panic time Oh-NO-fol maneuver. It failed to stop the bleeding. Time to move ahead with a clean slate. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that should look like.
911309485330845696 is not a valid tweet id Not a surprise. Bad play will cause you to make rash decisions and be late.
There's more to it than that; other bottom dwellers like DC, Minnesota, the Rapids and the Union managed to keep all their men on the field much more often. Here's how LA's 7 reds were distributed: 1 each for Cole, Diallo, Smith, and Jones, 3 for Jelle van Damme. I checked not too long ago and the Galaxy are still about 4-5th in total roster spending (in the last few years, we've been about 1-3). When we look back at this season, we should ask questions like how many games was our first choice starting 11 available for 90 minutes? Was there a single one?
With Zardes early injury and Da Boy being out. I am sure we have not had "our strongest 11" for a single game.
I am legitimately shocked that was Jones’s first red card on Wednesday. I would have said it was at least his second. Stupid middle-aged brain.
You're right about Gyasi not being a primary striker, but he scored more than 4 goals every season but his rookie season.
My bad - that's what I get for trusting my memory. I should have said he had only produced more than 6 goals once. Anyway we need a top striker that in a typical season scores in the mid-teens (say 13-18 goals average) if we hope to get back up with the big boys.
