Sakuyo 2-0 Jumonji Sakuyo is virtually a Belle's youth team. Jumonji looked better in technique, but didn't penetrate Sakuyo's tight defense.
I had to check to make sure I'm not imagining things, and she was indeed included in the u-15/16 squad for the US tour last year. She wasn't captain though, I probably remember her because she scored vs US. Deserved win for Tokiwagi today they were better overall, although Hinomoto raised their level of play in the second half. Both teams were lacking ideas in the final third.
Wow, they secured this year's Challenge League's top-scorer, one of the prominent players at U-17 WWC 2014 and one of the overall best players of her generation! While INAC's market campaigns tend to revolve around well-established names (Sameshima last year, probably Kamionobe this year), Beleza keeps aiming at young talents... And it looks like their plan is working. I can only imagine what an offensive line of Mina Tanaka + Rikako Kobayashi could do! (Also: Beleza tends to attract most of the players with family name Kobayashi over time... ).
This high school tournament might become the confrontation of Kono and Ichise finally. Of course I hope the other stars will appear. The most games of U-18 first round ended totally one-sided as expected. I don't think there would be any upset until the semifinals.
Wow, it's several years she's under contract with Canon as a testimonial, right now. I wonder if they're going to give her a job, after she's finished with her football career!
Result of U - 18 second round: Urawa 3-1 Albi Club Fields Linda 1-15 Cerezo Jef 1-0 Elfen Saitama Mari Sfida 0-6 Menina
Result of high school tournament second round: Daisho Gakuen 5-0 Kyoto Seika Matsusho Gakuen 1-6 Takasaki Houou 2-0 Fukui Chinzei 0-3 Fujieda Junshin Sakuyo 6-1 Mie Syutoku 0 (PK 5-4) 0 Maebashi Ikuei Hiroshima Bunkyo 0-5 Kamimura Gakuen Tokoha Tachibana 0 (PK 6-5) 0 Tokiwagi Although some technique-oriented teams like Jumonji, Seiwa or Kyoto Seika disappeared early because they were relatively physically weak, Tokoha Tachibana beat Tokiwagi, and it was not necessarily an upset. They were small, but able to move fast. They deserved to win. Kono Fuka certainly seems to be the best striker in this competition.
Aww, I always remember about the idea of getting a Nadeshiko calendar when it's too late and the new year is underway already... Well, anyway this one would have given me melancholy, because of Sawa still being on it... sniff... Oh, nice new avatar, Titus Sol: where did you find it?
Mmm, probably Same-chan went visiting old friends in Sendai? because, although she's not too much visible, I guess the one between Sakaguchi and Sameshima should be veteran Vegalta's striker Sawako Yasumoto. Who's the one in foreground instead?
I am happy, because I like a lot this player, since U-17 WWC last year, when, despite the few minutes she played, she scored two goals, including the one that sealed the final match. Beyond that, she looks very playful and she has a funny mug and an infectious smile, as seen in this gif by Virany, showing her celebrating with Takakura. I also found an old post from our 2012 thread, when our friend an_turtar (now running Full Bloom Guidebook) was still posting here, that shows that he had noticed Fuka Kono early, when she was still U-14/U-15. A question: was she called recently for U-19/U-20? What are the chances that she's part of the team at next U-20 WWC in Papua New Guinea?
Please ask Asako. I think it's narrow, but since both Seike and Kobayashi are now injured, it might be possible.
Wow! We hadn't people drawing their avatar by themselves since BlessTheRebel's times! Congatulations, Titus Sol!
Are Seike's and Kobayashi's injuries so serious that they're not supposed to be back by November/December? And anyway, how many players is the roster for U-20 WWC allowed to have? I know that Asako prefers versatile players, who can cover multiple roles (à la Rana Okuma), but how many FWs are supposed to be called in the team? Can't Kono squeeze in anyway?
They'll be back by then, but it will take time to return to their best after being out for so long. They will miss some training camps as well. I wonder if Takakura will risk including both in the squad for the WC. Actually this is one of my biggest worries for this wonderful team (along with the defensive issues), they already struggled to create and finish chances at the AFC and now both star strikers won't see any action for six months. 21 players. I doubt Kono will be there as she wasn't called for the last training camp, with Kobayashi, Seike and Shiraki all being absent.
Unepomme just said that she's playing well in this High School Tournament: maybe it's a message from her to Takakura: "Call me!".
In regards the Rio qualifiers, Australian right back Caitlin Foord broke her collar-bone in this weekend's W-League match -- she had surgery late yesterday and will likely be out 6-8 weeks. She could in theory still be available for the Japan match, but whether she will be selected or not must now be in some considerable doubt.
Our women's national team captain Cho So-Hyun joins Kobe INAC. http://sports.news.naver.com/kfootball/news/read.nhn?oid=436&aid=0000019774
Although I'd hoped it might be Albi or Vega or Beleza, or even Iga, I somehow knew it was always going to be INAC. Anyway, good luck to So-Hyun!
