That's not what what I meant. If say, Sweden were to finish ahead of Germany in their group, they would be qualified as the BEST team from that group. And deservedly so, cause after all, their results were better than Germany's, weren't they? But few ppl with their brain in the correct place would actually think that Sweden had a better team player by player than Germany would they? But they still deserved the 1st place, cause they would have had the best results overall.

Meaning: If Iceland can produce a BETTER result than Croatia over the 2 legs, then its they and only they who deserve to be in the World Cup. Unless something bizarre happens like in the Ireland - France clash of course.

If only the best teams should qualify, why do we even bother having qualifications? Maybe it would have been better to leave out completely Asia, Africa and Oceania, and just invite Germany, Brazil, Argentina, France, Holland, Italy, Spain and England and make a pre-decided 8-team World Cup, since they are supposed to be the "best" and biggest teams anyway?

I understand. I on the other hand want a team who is a better one to go on to WC. So if Croatia out.shoots Iceland 20 to 5 and Iceland score a lucky goal from a corner. Sure they deserve to win since they scored

But I ll tell you like this. A team which shots more on goal is better creates more clear cut chances and so on will usually win.
And the team who doesnt let too many chances will more often than not also conceed less goals.

So statistically speaking a better team will offer us => better football and from that point of view I want to see them in WC

I know why we bother making qualifications. I was speaking about my personal preferences :p

Sweet memories about those days
I was the only italian who didn't believe the conspiracy theories (I bet even Dax was a conspiracy believer) and support SK till the end.
The thing is that conspiracy theories ranged in pairs perfectly with the racist behavior along the lines of "They are asians, they couldn't beat us then they made a conspiracy for sure!" with Blatter as the Big Brother in charge LOL! :ROFLMAO:

Well, this is the past. Let's stfu :speechless:

The conspiracy theory could have been right if you recall also the SK-Spain match.

He should be! He is certainly better than a lot of the other players in the squad, but the problem is he is fighting mainly against established players in big leagues like Premier League, Serie A and Eredivisie. He can play as a wingback as well, but is far too offensive-minded for a coach like Lars Lagerbäck.

Jordan are Hopless. Australia were even lucky to beat them at home, as when they scored that first goal the Jordanians just gave up and let them cruise same with the japan match at saitama.

CONMEBOL shouldn't have a play-off spot: simple as that. They'll have 6 (!!!) squads in the next WC: THIS IS A JOKE.

    This is clearly a joke.
    Wasting Uruguay's time like that.
Clearly CONMEBOL's 5th (6th assuming that Brazil > Urugay) is way, way, way better than AFC's fifth.

Venezuela/Peru would (probably) also handle AFC's fifth with relative ease.

In WC '10, 5/5 CONMEBOL teams advanced to the knockout round.

    5/5 CONMEBOL
    2/3 CONCACAF
    2/4 AFC
    6/13 UEFA
    1/6 CAF
    0/1 OFC

I'm all for more diversity, but not at the expense of crappy teams in the WC when deserving teams stay home.

    WC '06
    1/1 OFC
    10/14 UEFA
    3/4 CONMEBOL
    1/4 CONCACAF
    0/4 AFC
    1/5 CAF

It doesn't mean anything. It's the World Cup.
Otherwise we might as well play Europe vs South America and call it a day.
I'm sure that both Sweden and Portugal would deserve to be at the WC, but it can't work like that, unless you raise the competition to 40 teams

it should have been like it used to be: one last nation from either Asia or Oceania, and one last nation from "America"

    p.s.

    WC '02

2/5 CONMEBOL (Paraguay going through only thanks to more goals than South Africa)
    1/5 CAF
    2/4 AFC
    2/3 CONCACAF
    9/15 UEFA
    0/0 (1) OFC

    ;)

CVD: New Zealand get trashed by Mexico. Oh, well, at least they'll need only 4 goals to pass...

Well, well. UEFA first leg of play-off is gone.

    Greece-Romania 3-1
    Ukraine-France 2-0
    Portugal-Sweden 1-0
    Iceland-Croatia 0-0

Everything went right. Now let's hope for an Icelandic miracle in Croatia.
