Japan is 2-0 up at HT against Vietnam. Musaka and Usami scored. Usami and Sugimoto played from beginning, instead of Ibusuki and Nagai, no other changes.

Usami is too good for this level.

He should be playing against Argentina.

Congrats for the 4-0 win against Vietnam and Usami's hat-trick wow.

So, now it seems Japan will surely finish 1st in their group. I have a feeling we will meet again in the QF. :( Australia and Korea are both equal on 6 pts and Australia are currently leading the group on goal difference. Anyways, good luck to your last game!

Nagai x 2, Ibusuki (skillful for a guy of his height).

I have a bad feeling about this ... Recently it's been all South Korea. Women' basketball, women soccer, men soccer, even when we are better they win.
    Come on boys !!

A loss will be devastating for either side. For Korea, the fact that they lose to Japan period, and at a cost of a spot in World Cup at that, would cause for a lot of shock and criticism. As for Japan, I would think that losing the spot in the World Cup to Korea for two tournaments in a row would be equally shocking and disappointing (not to mention their string of bad results against Korea period recently)...

Very harsh that the two teams have to meet in such a situation but hey, that's soccer and the nature of the rivalry I guess.

2 years ago it was similar, convincing in group stage, lost easily and fully deservedly against South Koreans in quarter finals ... hope wont be same story this time, but this Japanese defense hasnt convinced me fully yet, Vietnamese and today Jordanians were more or less poor, real challenge will come now

Sorry, I think this is great for Japan, because we'll get to see early if these group of boys have what it takes to bring it to the next level.

More than at the result, I'd look at how they play.

There is no chance we will win. The soccer fates hate Japan's youth teams and Korea totally has our number all over the sports landscape right now, disgusting as that is. I'm just going to stop paying attention to this cycle right now and spare myself the indignation.

That's the kind of fail I was talking about. Why Nakamura ? Kawanami wasn't good enough ?

yeh doesn't matter though. Korea would've found a way to score anyway.
Has Japan held the ball for more than 10 seconds?

I don't know, this 192cm goalie has been awesome so far.

I think they have some issues dealing with the agression made by the Korean. I wonder if they can keep up the pace.

Korea's press completely slowed down, but Japan still passed the ball right to them...
