    hahaha good times.

This game is still so so important. Its probably going to be the difference between playing South Korea for a spot in the U19FWC and playing Australia or Iran. And I'd rather meet South Korea in the final.

Japan are trusting their technique more they look quite good.

This team lack the stars of the last U17 team. Shibasaki, Horigome, Takagi, Miyayoshi ... Bring them back !

Haha omg we were sliced open by that guy.

this ref is stretching the definition of the word officiating. what kind of free was that.

I swear we could have so much more quality on the pitch if some other players were picked. Miyayoshi, Horigome, Shibasaki. And if he wasn't injured then Miyaichi would be great right now.

Good ideas, really poor execution. This UAE team is no joke so stop playing with them.

Usami, dammit ! Just put the ball in !

Karma is coming back. So far I think we've been the unluckiest team ever.

It will take at least 11 years to recover the karma deficit of the last 11 years... since 99, Japan's youth squads have not had one single thing go their way ever.

I like to think the nature of that win is karma for the way we lost the Brazil game in the U17 FWC.

Being able to win while playing like crap is a sign of a good team.

Both goals were pretty bullshit though.

    Not convincing at all

Fully agree. Japan will most likely top their group after this result. How did UAE look btw? Korea/Australia/Iran would face either UAE or Japan it seems. After all, it is vitally important to get past QF as FIFA hands out 4 spots to AFC for next year's U-20 WC.

UAE were the better team in the early stages of the first half. Although by the change in quality of how Japan played in the early stages compared to the rest of the game I tend to think Japan were just very very nervous to begin with playing against the defending champs. They pressed Japan very high up in the first half (japan hardly left their own half in the first 30 minutes) and have a striker who sliced through our defence at one point.

It was a close game but both teams had the 'genuine' actual chances to have won without those mistakes so they're a good team. Korea would be favourites to beat them but it'll be no walk in the park.
