Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Kampai!!!!! Yoroshiiiiiiiiiiiiii !! Sugoiiiiiiiii!!!! And any other words of excitement I've learned. I'm so excited, I can't even get started on my work here!!! This is a nice Christmas Gift At any rate, once more champions, but sadly for Urawa because it seems that every time they have the biggest support from the crowd, they can never reel in the big catch. Are they the Cubs of the J-league?? They had a great run in the second stage but the gassed out it seems. Hopefully they can keep together and make another go at it next season, but Emerson may be peace out to Europe I keep hearing .
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Congrats to Yokohama! Pay attention to the K-League Play-Off Thread tomorrow to see which team will get to play Yokohama in the A3 Cup
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Story: http://www.turkishpress.com/sports/news.asp?id=041211164111.d6a9uvm7.xml Also, the story at http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_12-12-2004_pg2_12 notes that replays showed there was little contact between Emerson and Nakanishi on the play that got the latter sent off (and which set up the free kick that Urawa scored on). Did anybody see this? If he dove, I'd have to say the final result was just.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Or even better, the act that got him ejected at minute 115? Was it as shameful as I read it to be?
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Video highlights: http://www.jsgoal.jp/club/asx/00014483.asx What a crowd! (Doesn't show either red card, though...)
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Automobile rivalry? As for the first red card, it certainly looked like there was little contact, and I thought the red was too harsh. And Emerson showed his true colors by stomping on Kawai's most important body organ, which was, um, painful. If you are a man, you know what I mean. Enomoto did a good job at stopping penalties, and I liked the last kick by Dutra! He was so composed and confident that he knew he could finish the game with such a weak shot! "This is enough to beat you, Reds. We are the Champions. You are not. Not yet." It's really great to see more than 120,000 spectators on aggregate in this Championship. Urawa Reds were all-time losers in the early years of the J-League, and now they are a serious contender, and they are without doubt the best supported football club in our growing league!
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Congratulations to Nakazawa, the last ever MVP of the Champiionship Series.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] I'm just guessing here, but does anyone think there's a possibility that Matsu might be a bit p*ssed off about the Marinos' performance in the second play-off game? Report @ Rising Sun
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] he claims the foul on Emerson was blatant but other reports seemed to indicate there was very little contact. which is the truth? either way I can't blaim Yokohama for defending when they had a lead in the series, and they were missing their two top strikers.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] He sent out a video of the fouls. I agree that the foul on Emerson was pretty blatant especially shown from the angle in his video (and extreme slo-mo). He also sent a clip of the incident between Emerson and Nakanishi in the first match. You can clearly see Nakanishi kicking Emerson twice. The video was exactly the opposite of what the Japanese news said. You should join his Rising Sun News video service if you want to see the match clips. You can't always believe what you read in Japanese newspapers
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] *** Mod note*** So I'm under orders from the BigSoccer higher ups to keep threads short (to around 450 posts) because long threads apparently take a heavier toll on the servers. So I will be closing this thread once we're done discussing the Championship Series. If you want to discuss offseason developments like transfers, go ahead and start a new thread. And once the season starts next year, we can start a 2005 Season thread. Thanks.
