Re: Sleeve badges on J-League uniforms WOW. How did the J-league got so popular so fast? Is soccer a 'cool' sport over there or something?
Re: Sleeve badges on J-League uniforms Who says that it's not a cool sport? 1. The growth of regionalism in the Japanese society at large has a positive impact on football. Look at the emblem of FC Ryukyu below exemplifying the spirit of the Kingdom of Ryukyu. 2. The civic rivalries dating back to the Peiod of Warring States have reemerged. 3. It's a global sport transcending all kinds of borders.
I just started creatngi a J.League web site in English... At this point there isn't a clealer cut goals yet, but I will see how it will progress. Here is the site address: https://home.comcast.net/~shuvrap/jleague.htm
The last? The last championship involving the two winners of each stage and I must ask the general opinions of the decision to go to one stage. How will this affect the fan base?? Has J-league seen a boom in part because of the excitement of the two stage system??? I hope that the single stage system will be a success and not be a duopoly like some of the Euro Leagues. As a Marinos supporter I have respect for Urawa (I used to look like Alex when he had his dreadlocks also!) and despite my worries of the offense for Yokohama, I'd say they would win it by playing solid defense (the cliche of defense winning championships could be tested).Even though the Marinos have been practicing stop Emerson (Okada was his coach back in Sapporo), the Reds have other options also. Speaking of Marinos, what is the contract status of Ahn??? His ankle might heal in 3-4 months and I'm wondering if it's too early to start thinking of possible replacement. DYE Kashiwa Stadium Yellow!! Well that seems to be the promotion with the upcoming relegation fight. When I started watching highlighs on J-Ole back "in the day" I was always amazed at the sea of yellow at Reysol home matches. I'm hoping for a reysol victory, but then again a trip down can shake up and wake up an organization sometimes. BTW all the best to you shuvy in your web site efforts. Any info in English pertaining to J-league (especially to us non-fluent Japanese readers )is a good thing for the global knowledge of da J-.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] LOL, I like that eveil smile. I personally don't really care who wins... but you know what? I will support Urawa just because you hate them.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Well, I don't really hate them, but I don't like them either http://blog.livedoor.jp/yokocolo/cb59650f.gif
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Acording to this sourse, Jリーグ入れ替え戦をネットで初の生中継,for the first time every in J.League history, J.League game will be broadcast onlie by site such as Nikkansports, MSN Sports (Japan), etc. They will be showing the promotion/relegation series. I just checked the official J.league site and they have confiremed it. 【2004J1・J2入れ替え戦】インターネット中継ライブ配信決定 ―Jリーグ公式戦初―
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] I can't get the ticket for the championship! Tickets have been sold out sooo quickly. Ugh... And I can't watch the playoff at any of these sites. Is my Media Player broken or what? It makes me crazy! Anyway, Reysol have taken the lead. '47 Ohno
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] FT Avispa Fukuoka 0-2 Kashiwa Reysol '47 Ohno '89 Yazawa Kashiwa will plobably stay.
FC Gifu, another J-League member? Interesting news from Gifu Prefecture: Jリーグ元日本代表、アマで現役復帰 「FC岐阜」に森山選手入団 サッカー元日本代表“ゴールは古里で”/森山さん、FC岐阜入団 Former Japan striker Moriyama joined an amateur club in his hometown and restarted his career as a player and an assitant coach there. He was the first J-Leaguer from Gifu Prefecture and scored 66 goals in the 215 games he played. He retired from professional games this year. FC Gifu is a soccer division of an NPO, Stickle Back Sport Club, which also operates judo and track and field teams. The club is currently playing in the second division of the Tokai Regional League. An organization to set up a J-League club in Gifu will likely to be formed, in much the same way as Kumamoto. Although Tokai is the third largest urban industrial complex in Japan, there's only one professional football club. Can FC Gifu become a competitor of Nagoya Grampus Eight?
Re: FC Gifu, another J-League member? He will play without reward? That's a waste of talent. I liked his "little goal" like Gerd muller.
The LAST Championship Yokohama F Marinos vs Urawa Red Diamonds Wow, the stadium looks fully packed...
Re: The LAST Championship That's no strange……cause it's the most serious match of J-league this year. Pity……neither the three sports channel of CCTV is going to show this match(they showed it 2003)
Re: The LAST Championship And Yokohama F Marinos have taken the lead. Kawai headed Oku's corner kick home. '69 1-0 Reds are attacking... FT Yokohama 1-0 Urawa Attendance = about 64,000
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Reds couldn't get anything going for them all game. Yokohama F-Marinos 1-0 Urawa Reds Does anyone know if the away goals rule is in effect? If so, Reds will need to win by two next Saturday night...
Re: The LAST Championship ...except for the two whole sections in the corner of the upper deck that were empty, plus most of the front-row seats at midfield across from the main TBS camera...
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Reds must win by two in the return match if they want to finish the job in 90 minutes. The irony is that the goal scorer tonight was fired by Urawa two years ago. 1. aggregate goal differential 2. golden goal extra time (15 minutes x 2) 3. penalty shootout So if the second leg ends up being 2-1 Reds, the aggregate score will be 2-2 and they will decide the winner by #2.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] A OUTSTANDING start to this morning here ........................However, Saitama's going to be a freakin hive of red Saturday, and in the words of a sign at the International Yoke, IMPOSSIBLE is NOTHING. Word has it that Emerson should have seen red for the elbow. Well, I just hope that Yokohama don't rely on bunker ball for the next leg. The energy from the stands in Saitama will surely synergize unto the field for the Reds.
Re: 2004 J-League thread [R] Just got back from the game. I always thought CONCACAF refs were the worst in the world, but it looks as though we've found a new low tonight. The F Marinos played very well, but the Reds had a crucial penalty taken away from them off of a foul in the box that could not have been called diving from any angle. (again, I am neutral, but my student is an Urawa fan and we sat pretty darn close to the Reds' supporters section) A fair amount of attacking and a lot more physical play than what a J-League game is typically used to, in my opinion. In all, I enjoyed it.
