Seriously. I need to get away from that beautifully narrated story. Losing our oldest cat last week, our beautiful baby of nearly 18 years. The cat given to my husband by his mother (by complete surprise and when Tim was an utter wreck) on his 20th birthday, the first birthday after his own father died of cancer. That little ornery and social kitten. He was the first pet I have ever lost since I did not have pets growing up. Still too raw. On Monday we received a rainbow bridge card with his paw print in ink from the vet office (I was unaware of this gesture). I started bawling. I told Tim that I was not prepared to open that envelope. I had no idea losing a pet was this rough.
My second cat, named Whiskers after the cat in the book my mom got me after our first one, Rosie, died (Whiskers once and always) was a shelter cat who lived to the ripe age of 16. She disappeared for a few days before she died but came back. I was away from home, living in Columbus, and didn't get to see her. It's always killed me that I never got to say goodbye to her.
Anthony Precourt is this generation's Norm Green. Who still sucks. Also, "Vamos El Tree" may possibly be the dumbest thing I've seen in my entire life...and I turn 62 this year.
Oh, and thanks for the pet stories so I could cry through lunch, assholes! Signed,Guy who had to put two dogs to sleep in a three week period one summer.
Actually, they were easily proven wrong by #savethecrew people from minute one of this debacle. They sucked at sucking.
I'm going to ignore the obvious things. To me it is going to be really interesting over time about attendance. We all know that attendance the first year or two should/better be great. AP and gang will give away tickets if that gives the projection that there is no issue with attendance. Perception perception perception. To me though, the big things that stand out with some of the newer teams (Orlando and Cincinnati) is that they both had incredible success with their USL teams in the limited number of years in existence. Austin did not. There are certainly outliers (see Atlanta) but over time, this is the biggest "worrisome" thing I have for the franchise (other than the obvious ownership).
...and yet we still keep going back to the shelter to get another after each loss, knowing that that is what awaits us at some point every time. I am just the steward for the dog/cat's hopefully wonderful life.
I asked those questions before I was banned in Austin. The purple is really violet. They claim Austin is widely known as the "city of the violet crown". I asked some Texans I know who said they've never heard it called that. The bird is a grackle. It's a nuisance bird, and not especially identified with Austin. Sort of like their tree.
Yeah, I tried warning them about "Vamos El Tree" but they didn't listen and I was banned by Billy. So let them beclown themelves further is my current attitude.
Your objection was the most childish, nativist bullshit I've ever seen. It's mockable without invoking the Fear of the Brown.
You really think it's not an issue for an MLS club to identify itself with the Mexican national team?
