http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi..._recession_turned_out_to_be_a_lot_deeper.html I think it was a silly promise to make, since deficit reduction should always come second to getting out of a recession (in fact, getting out of a recession is a pretty good way to reduce deficit), and a recessions caused by a real estate market collapse are a bitch. In a sense, if he has to break a promise, that's a pretty good one to break.
Probably not, but I would hope the likelihood of them voting would increase. I would think if they had to pay federal income taxes instead of getting agree ride - they would be more likely to pay attention.
That's weird. I thought you were the one talking about fairness and "skin in the game" and stuff, while we menstrual lefties are talking about the economic impact of tax cuts on low income earners.
I can't currently watch the video and the text doesn't tell me what I really want to know. When, exactly, was he promising that? Was it in the spring or summer of 2008, before we knew the economy was about to go tits-up? Or was it after September, when it was clear that the doodoo was deep? Because one of those is more forgiveable than the other.
February 2009. I don't know, I think it was a dumb promise to make regardless of when he made it. Even in 2008, I think we knew that we were headed for deep shit.
Gosh, the Heritage Foundation hasn't done a study on Skin in the Game-ology? How can we be expected to carry a conversation if they don't feed us the talking points?
Oh, definitely a stupid promise to make in Feb 2009. Really stupid. It was late 2008 when the doodoo deepened. September or so. Prior to that we knew that there was a recession, but not how scary it would be.
http://www.politifact.com/florida/s...oads-gps-ad-says-obama-failed-keep-pledge-ha/ The pledge was made on February 23, 2009. So how do you tell which promises he makes are dumb. Which promises are real?
Income inequality makes me sad and angry, but taxing the rich and giving handouts to the poor makes me happy, so take from the rich and give it to the poor! Something like that?
I tend to ignore political pledges from all candidates. They're generally misguided pandering. But I'm particularly dismissive of promises when it comes to deficits, because even the "fiscal hawks" in Congress aren't interested in reducing them.
Yes. Yes they should. Look up the data on the different tax rates at different points on the income scale in the US, and you'll see that
He also promised if we passed the stimulus - unemployment wouldn't touch eight percent. Oops. http://www.akdart.com/obama131.html
Good one. I can google, too. http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/28/how-did-we-know-the-stimulus-was-too-small/
http://immigration.about.com/od/immigrationlawandpolicy/a/Obamas-Immigration-Record.htm President Obama didn't pass a dream act did he?
