TAMPA, Fla. – USL PRO named its Team of the Week for Week 15 of the 2014 season on Tuesday as Orlando City forward Corey Hertzog was named Player of the Week. Hertzog had a pair of goals as the Lions maintained their undefeated start to the season with a 3-0 victory against the LA Galaxy II on Saturday night at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

As noted when Once A Metro checked in with Hot last year, he may no longer be a player for RBNY but he is still a fan - which would make a Motown-RBNY match-up in USOC 2017 very interesting. However, even the possibility of any such game is a long way off. FC Motown is one of 64 amateur teams contesting the Open Cup qualifying rounds for spots in the tournament's first round proper next year. There are at least three qualifying rounds to get through just to get to the main draw, and FC Motown has its work cut out for it simply to get past its first opponent.

On the sidelines for Motown this season is Sacir Hot, familiar to New York Red Bulls fans as a 2011 Homegrown signing for the MLS side. Now 25, Hot has turned from playing to coaching, taking on the assignment of guiding FC Motown - a dominant force in the Garden State Soccer League - to the next stage of its development as a club. He made his professional debut for RBNY in USOC (in 2011); his coaching debut was the receipt of notification of NY Greek American SC's forfeit of its match against Motown in the first qualifying round of the 2017 Cup.

Jacksonville Armada released five players Wednesday in an effort to continue operations, the latest turmoil for the NASL franchise.

The Armada said in a statement that owner Mark Frisch is “continuing to work with the club’s leadership team to keep the sport of professional soccer alive in Jacksonville.”

Former MetroStars forward Cornell Glen has gotten another call from the Trinidad & Tobago national team at the age of 36.

He was called into the squad for pair of friendlies in Nicaragua next week.

Glen, who plays for Ozone FC (India), has made 70 international appearance for the Soca Warriors.

The victory avenged a 2-1 loss Tuesday as the result was the first triyumph for new T&T head coach Tom Saintfiet.
