Jason Hernandez and Tony Taylor are gone. Bravo and Mendoza returned to parent clubs. Other roster moves here: http://www.nycfc.com/post/2016/11/28/nycfc-announce-roster-options-2017
I'm probably in the minority, but I kind of liked Mendoza. Hernandez and Taylor are a couple of players who can easily be replaced and Bravo was nothing more than a Yellow Card suspension waiting to happen.
Mendoza was never going to stay due to his high buy out amount in the initial deal Really happy Bravo and Hernandez are finally gone though. Now finish the cleansing process by cutting Mena and Mix
Mena and Mix are expansion fodder I think Mix will get taken by Minn or I hope at least. I would have liked to keep Hernandez just for depth he's better then White(which isn't saying much) but he did play LB, RB and CB last year and did okay. He should be offered a coaching gig if he wants it since I think he's the only player on the team to actually come from NYC (Queens I believe).
That's exactly how I feel about it, I think Honda would fit the mold for a high work rate DP he'd have a similar impact to Giovinco IMO.
If Vieira is for switching to a 4-2-3-1 I'm all on the Honda train. If he's not playing behind the striker then I'm not as warm to the idea due to how poor he's looked at Milan in a 4-3-3

Good depth signing we need strikers and midfielders right now and I think he's probably an upgrade over Tony Taylor.
Let's keep incoming transfers in here and the confirmed signings thread. I have no idea who he is, but it's nice to see that we are keeping our eyes on the other tiers of soccer in this country.
Why? He seemed pretty listless at Sounders reserves. Breakout in the USL doesn't usually mean much at the MLS level. My guess is he a like for like player to Tony Taylor.
Well because Okoli is younger, has played and done well in the lower divisions (USL MVP) and has no major injury history like Taylor has. So I'm expecting this to be a low cost upgrade over Taylor. Is he going to light up MLS? Probably not but he'll be useful off the bench similar to Mendoza last year I feel.
Apparently the team is interested in local boy Szetela. He'd probably be the same skill wise as Bravo but not cost as much and not take up an Int. slot. I say go for it. http://www.empireofsoccer.com/nycfc-interested-in-former-cosmos-mid-szetela-56121/
He wasn't good that much is true which is why he isn't with the team anymore. He was at best a bench level MLS player and you can get that without the cost and Int. slot that he took up.
I don't know if Bravo was bad per say. I think the main problem with him was he really didn't do anything at all. Collecting weekly yellows was his only contribution
Yeah, he did excel in picking up yellows! lol But seriously you could have gotten the same production putting Mikey Lopez there. I had no problem with the club not picking up transfer option. I think the club should keep trying these types of signing
Sean Johnson on his way to da Bronx? As Atlanta United closes in on Brad Guzan, sources tell me they are sending newly-acquired GK Sean Johnson to #NYCFC #MLS : https://t.co/aY8kARYUdA— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) December 10, 2016
Honda's agent confirms his interest in MLS. I'm pretty sure Milan would terminate his contract early to allow him to leave in January. He definitely should be on our radar. http://www.football-italia.net/96193/‘honda-wants-mls’
He's been linked with Seattle and LA now as well as us. He just opened an academy in LA so there may be some interest from him to go there although I personally think he'd be better off coming to us as he'd be better suited to our style.
