Instead of dimonds on the side it could have the traditional soccer balls (or 20 - 15). Either way after going to their site I can appreciate how clean it is and how easily it can be marketed on several platforms. Looking forward to seeing the final NYCFC crest in the next year or so.
While it is nicely done, it's not for me. It looks like a logo for a ferry or barge company. I have to ask, was that specific skyline intentional? If so, do you really think they'd go there?
My humble opinion is that a crest of NYCFC without the statue of liberty would be a crest not representative of the city of New York.
Here's something new. The logo has a hint of a Minnesota Stars FC (2012) kind of feel to it. And just for reference, here's the Minnesota logo:
No doubt it might be a nice publicity stunt by NYC to arrange an official design competition. I wouldn´t be surprised if it comes true.
Nice! Like them, but somehow I picture Blue Eyes as a destroyer type mid I know NYC will be in light blue but I still hope it doesnt happen, orange and blue is a unique combo in MLS, something like.. ...would really stand out in MLS, to me.
I imagine this won't happen, but I'd like to see a NYCFC-Sky Blue FC partnership, and maybe similar kits (changing the ladies kits as well)
In the long run I see no reason not to have a womens team, but not until the stadium issue is solved. As for uniforms, badge and colours, we still have no idea..rather frustrating really
I made this one using the shield and the eagle from the NYC flag. I thought it was a cool idea when I started it, but I don't like it too much now that I finished it. I figured I might as well post it anyway.
I am actually working on a shield logo just like this. I think if you took out the other stuff besides the shield itself I think it would help it. Otherwise it is not bad.
must have nyc flag on sheild as well as the city panorama, empire state building statue liberty bridegs and freedom tower. Ihink pinstripes awould be cool on sheild and sky blue of mancity on sheild jesey should be white, maybe water mark pinstripes with borders of sleeve and color nyc flag scheme
i like this idea the most with maybe watermark pinstripes numbers can be light blue but colar and hops on sleeve or all of sleeeve should be like NYC's flag , right sleeve dark blue left sleeve pale orange not same orange as Mets. This team should have own identity and colors only minimal branding of parent company we already know and wont forget who owns the team. include pinsrtipe and sky blue on sheild haave a skyscraper cityscape complete with Satue Liberty and Empire building and freedom tower silloutte and sheild shape with five side doesnt have to be pentagon
I wouldn't go that far to say a crest "without the statue of liberty would be a crest not representative of the city of New York", but I do like the design and I strongly agree that the Statue of Liberty should be included in the crest in a very prominent manner because I think there's a HUGE marketing opportunity there. Let's just assume NYCFC gets fairly big...NY would have a big brand in the world's sport with a crest featuring the SoL...what do you think almost every tourist coming to New York would want to buy? Probably a soccer jersey or any other merchandise of New York's world's sport's team featuring the icon of the city on it! So, I think it would look great as an element of a crest (of course depending on the actual design) and it's a huge chance to sell TONS of merchandise not only to fans but to hundreds of thousands of random tourists. Not saying it would definitely happen that way, since there will be a lot of factors involved but there is definitely a massive potential in the usage of the Statue of Liberty! Plus it would clearly differentiate NYCFC from MCFC (even though using the sky blue color) and thus help to prove (lovers and haters) that this is not MCUSA but NYCFC and help the teams reputation and acceptance within NY.
Yes, it's from Chris Creamer's site. You probably had no way of knowing this, but we've had some concerns from them in the past. I frequent there also. Most of those guys are professional artists and rightly protective of their work. So, for everyone here, if you use a logo from somewhere else, please give credit where credit is due. In this case: that logo was created by Pete Schwadel.
