I can't say I am surprised if it is true. The color was always less important to me than the badge. While I would rather NYCFC wear different and unique colors, this is not a dealbreaker for me.
This is the design I had worked on at another site: Home: Away: 3rd: I used Manchester City sky blue, the Yankee's navy blue, and hints of the orange used in the crest. I kept orange as a trim and minimal until you get to the 3rd kit. Even then the orange is just used as the pinstripes. The orange was looking ghastly when combined with both the sky blue and dark blue. Just felt the orange had better impact in minimal usage.
Good job on the jerseys! I am thinking they will use orange as trim as well . I hope they put the NYC flag on the there somewhere . Maybe back of neck under collar but I guess that depends on what collar is used. Good designs tho , I wouldn't be surprised if they are close to that . Maybe they only pin stripe one so its not redundant .
I loved it. Congrats! However, I believe they will go with a ManC home kit and a Yankees away. So, no pinstripes in the sky blue shirt, and navy pinstripes in the white. A navy shirt with orange pinstripes could be the third kit.
I think based off of Melbourne City, and MCFC, NYCFC will probably have Etihad Airways as the jersey sponsor.
A-League has low attendance and is struggling for cash in general. They need all the sponsors to break even.
Below the Nike swoosh is the league logo, on the left should is Hyundai, a league wide sponsor that everyone has. The others are what MCFC (melbourne city) have gathered as sponsors. The Coco Joy logo on the right sleeve is new this year. The away jersey has a different sleeve sponsor, MatchWorks. Then there's the back-of-shirt partner HOSTPLUS, short partner Westpac. You see this a lot in other countries.
The best is still the Mexican league though--historically we have seen jerseys full of so many commercials you no longer know what the team is (some of the old santos laguna jerseys in the 90's were ridiculous) and i will never forget my shock the time when i saw a commercial even in the socks!!! (and no it wasnt from an athletic gear company--that at least would have been understandable)
The family the operate and pretty much own Etihad airways are the ones that bought Man City and therefore they own the team as well as Etihad
I like this and based on what Man acity have this is wouldn't be a far stretch fron Man City kit and incorporates the Yankees pinstripes. I hope they do have this set up but with a touch more white and orange as thats the actual NYC colors.
