....and speaking of five goals, that's how many UVA have put past the Spirit so far in the first half. OTL

One thing about the FCKC game today, just in case 8 goals isn’t enough for you on its own. They scored 8 goals against a Nebraska team than has a Mexican Women’s national team (senior level) player on it in their defender Ari Romero.
Flash vs. UNC (2-1) - Random Notes …the Flash offense picked up when (at 64 mins) Laura Heyboer (surprise!) came in for DiMartino, Adriana was moved to the right wing and Kerr took up the middle forward spot, and Perez was moved to the middle, too; I think he had Zerboni not push up, but feed the strikers instead. Flash was down 0-1 at the time. …Adriana’s goal at the 85th +/- was world class. She got the ball on the right side, drove toward the by-line, pushed right and cut back left; the defender totally followed the fake right, Adriana put the ball on her left foot and crushed it from about 25 yards to the far post, about ¾ the way up. …Vicki DiMartino is going to take over from Bev Goebel for the shortest shorts and socks; and all the shorts are shorter this year …UNC is fast and strong (surprise!); the speed of play and players did not faze them at all. …UNC scored first – corner from Paige Nelsen to Megan Brigman (5-8 defender). Flash may be vertically challenged on opponent’s set pieces. Right now I have to have Abby come back and defend on corners, and get Carli in there as well. …Flash got no oak trees on D – Brit Taylor is slighter than I remember, Estelle Johnson is a twig, Bry McCarthy is strong, but short – can really drive a left footed cross – I expect she will start. Alex Sahlen did fine on the right side today. …Zerboni was announced as captain – good for her – she patrolled the mid field like she owned it. UNC had only over-the-top attacks up the middle. …starting: Tajoner-G, McCarthy LB, Johnson LCB, Taylor RCB, Sahlen RB, DiMartino LM, Salem CM, Zerboni CM, Perez RM, Adriana F, Kerr F. Reynolds came in for McCarthy at the half. …I think Salem and Zerboni were playing what I would call traditional midfield, while DiMartino, Kerr, and Perez were floating between forward and mid. …Very windy day, mostly cross field, cloudy at first, then sunny with clouds. Warmest day this spring 60-65 degrees. …Stadium upside – programs were handed out, they put everyone on the side of the stadium opposite the benches in general admission fashion, so fans were not spread out everywhere – had beer and concessions – I guess 400-500 fans – I was told on Wednesday they had only sold 100 tickets. Downside: apparently there was no water service in the stadium (weird) so the rest rooms were not open and there were only 4 port-o-lets. Not typical of the normal level of service.
Apparently FCK City will travel to UMKC the day after their Thorns game? Seems odd to me - though maybe it's like the "reserves" game against William Jewel College the day after their NWSL game versus the Breakers. === Chicago beat Ill. St. 5-0 earlier; goals by Fowlkes, Bywaters, McDonald x2, and an OG. Will do a proper update of the full list at some point.

Yeah, you couldn't tell already? It's in her last name. Cheney. She was prom queen for her Haitian school back in the day, before coming to UCLA.
