Interesting survey about the prefectures that no one cares about. http://getnews.jp/archives/14435 15位 岐阜県 14位 群馬県 13位 石川県 12位 岩手県 11位 宮崎県 10位 山形県 9位 福島県 8位 鳥取県 7位 山口県 6位 大分県 5位 栃木県 4位 徳島県 3位 佐賀県 2位 福井県 1位 島根県 Shimane Fukui Saga Tokushima Tochigi Oita Yamaguchi Tottori Fukushima Yamagata Miyazaki Iwate Ishikawa Gunma Gifu Sad to see Tokushima at 4th. No one cares about Obon-Odori?
Uh yeah baby, Shimane is one of my favorite, with Yamaguchi. Yep, they suck, please NEVER go there... Hmmm...
Honestly, I believe that the crossing South to North of Yamaguchi-ken (say: Iwakuni to Hagi, via Yamaguchi and Tsuwano) is one of the most beautiful parts of Japan. Stefanole, if you mail me in private I have a tip about Hiroshima (you might know, but I found out that even most locals do not know...) gorunoura@japanesesoccer.ner
Most of the Japanese people I know cannot correctly distinguish Tottori and Shimane on a map, if the prefectures are not labeled. My personal #1 would be Chiba. Its very existence is pretty much indefensible. Saga and Ibaraki would also not be missed if a radioactive space monster turned them into molten lava. We could also get by without Toyama, although it does have some scenic beauty, nothing that its neighbors don't have more and better of.
You're kidding, I hope... Toyama is where Yanagisawa was born, basically the Japanese version of the Holy Land...
As for the prefecutre everyone hates, I would say it's Kyoto. They are too arrogant and think Kyoto is still the capital of Japan. Also, I can't understand their language, Kyoto dialect.
I was actually wondering how Oita was more unpopular than Yamaguchi. At least there are geysers and alligators in Oitaken. Yamaguchi ken is absolutely barren. The last third of Yamaguchiken driving is pretty scenic and beautiful (and also a lot of fun if you like to speed and through mountain passes) -- but I still wouldn't want to get off, except at one of the rest stops. And even most of those are just bathrooms and vending machines. My favorite rest stop is right before the bridge, about to enter the promised land. I used to have the locations of all the cameras by the kilometer marker there... after getting an 8man-en ticket for going 150 (after slamming on the breaks.) I miss those 3 hour drives.
