April 20, 2019 is the "national holiday" for marijuana use in the US.
It stems from students in high school who would use code and say "4:20" as a signal to go out behind the school at 20 minutes after 4 pm (high school often ended at 3:50 or 4:00 pm)

For you European-types, that would be 15:50 or 16:00, so I can see the confusion on your part.

By the way, here the "neonazi" thing code is "88" (for Heil H*tler, H being 8th letter of the alphabet).

Funny, the Blackhawks have put up billboards all over Chicago saying "Remember 88" or "Follow 88" or something like for Blackhawks star Patrick Kane.

I always thought it was a bit strange and wondered if anyone told their marketing department that is a known nazi symbol.

 

Also there was something about the proposition to legalize marijuana was "Prop 420" or something like that.

 

That was a "joke" nickname.
