Camp for 03's. They sent out nothing about Nyeman also being called in, so maybe he'll be at the '02 camp.

    The roster is out

    https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...48-player-roster-for-final-2017-training-camp

GOALKEEPERS (4): Andrew Cordes (Colorado Rapids; Denver, Colo.), Eliot Jones (New England Revolution; New Britain, Conn.), Gavin Krenecki (Sacramento Republic; Fair Oaks, Calif.), Jacob Morris (Real Colorado; Parker, Colo.)

DEFENDERS (14): Adrian Aguilar (LA Galaxy; Los Angeles, Calif.), Niklas Dossmann (De Anza Force; Belmont, Calif.), Andrew Durkin (Richmond United; Henrico, Va.), Marcus Ferkranus (LA Galaxy; Santa Clarita, Calif.), Isaiah Foster (Bethesda SC; Frederick, Md.), Reece Fragle (FC Dallas; Plano, Texas), Jacob Greene (DC United; Crofton, Md.), Noah Hall (Columbus Crew; Cincinnati, Ohio), Isaac Homer (Portland Timbers; Portland, Ore.), Ulysses Martinez (Portland Timbers; Mt. Angel, Ore.), Morris Mathews (New England Revolution; Cambridge, Mass.), Nico Rei McMillan (Seattle Sounders; Seattle, Wash.), Andre Ramos (LA Galaxy; Los Angeles, Calif.), Bogart Roca (LA Galaxy; Sylmar, Calif.), Casey Walls (San Jose Earthquakes; Mill Valley, Calif.)

MIDFIELDERS (16): Paxten Aaronson (Philadelphia Union; Medford, N.J.), Sebastian Burke (FC Bayern Munich; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.), Javier Casas (Chicago Fire; Addison, Ill.), Caden Clark (Barca Academy; Medina, Minn.), Brian Gutierrez (Chicago Fire; Burbank, Ill.), Dante Huckaby (Philadelphia Union; Morgantown, W. Va.), Martin Killeen (LA Galaxy; Brea, Calif.), Sota Kitahara (Seattle Sounders; Edmonds, Wash.), Daniel Leyva (Seattle Sounders; Seattle, Wash.), Brian Lopez (Weston; Miami, Fla.), Diego Luna (San Jose Earthquakes; Sunnyvale, Calif.), Leonardo Martinez (San Jose Earthquakes; Biola, Calif.), Jack McGlynn (BW Gottschee; Middle Village, N.Y.), Anthony Miron (Real So Cal; Pacoima, Calif.), Nicholas Pariano (Philadelphia Union; Wayne, Pa.), Aidan Wolf (Columbus Crew; Cleveland Heights, Ohio)

FORWARDS (14): Nicolas Bellini (La Roca SC; Lehi, Utah), Andres Cardenas (Weston; Doral, Fla.), Edward Castro (LA Galaxy; Los Angeles, Calif.), Alec Kenison (San Diego Surf; San Diego, Calif.), Tyler Freeman (Sporting KC; Shawnee, Kan.), Selmir Miscic (Philadelphia Union; Royersford, Pa.), Alex Monis (FC United; Naperville, Ill.), Sebastian Nava (LA Galaxy; Wilmington, Calif.), Ricardo Pepi (FC Dallas; McKinney, Texas), Jonathan Perez (LA Galaxy; Pico Rivera, Calif.), Samuel Sarver (Columbus Crew; Beachwood, Ohio), Dante Sealy (FC Dallas; Frisco, Texas), Dantouma Toure (PDA; Trenton, N.J.)

Sebastian Burke is something of an international mystery man. He's been previously listed at Chelsea and now, at Bayern.

I also spy a Durkin from Richmond. Younger brother, no doubt.

Miscic is the leading scorer in the U15 DA division and Sarver isn't far behind him.

In general, and at this age especially, nobody would believe that the best 48 players are all in the DA. But 47 of the 48 players are in the DA, the only exception is Bellini, whose club fields teams in the girls' DA.

    Notes:

Dantouma Toure is the last name listed. I missed that inclusion on first glance, I'm sure others did as well.

Now here's the odd part, this is what US Soccer says in the press

"Out of the 48 players on the roster, 46 have played at least one season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and all players were born in 2003."

We were previously told told he's an '04, yet the timeline behind him being an '04 didn't make much sense, it makes sense that he's an '02, based on his high school timeline, now US Soccer is saying he's an '03, which makes some more sense, but also completely confusing at the same time. I'm not blaming anyone, these mix-ups often happen in Africa where birth date records are not kept, as well. Regardless, I'll go with he's an '03 for now, I don't think they would make such an error, but I do think this age situation is strange. I presume he's not yet US eligible, given when he came to the USA, but this is a U-14 camp, so it doesn't matter that much.

This roster has all the names that I considered as some of the early top names in the '03 age group, besides Omidiji and Nyeman. Either could be part of the upcoming U-17 camp, that would not surprise me, but we also do know that Nyeman was recently injured, and still may be. Maybe Omidiji is, as well. Or maybe Omidiji has decided to play for Nigeria instead? Hard to know, those were the only two notable names I thought were missing.

Its a roster of 48, I don't suspect there will be many more rosters for this age group with this many players, but it makes sense at this point to test a lot of names out.

By the way, I believe that Ricardo Pepi is actually from the El Paso area.
As we know, FCD has had a bit of a pipeline to El Paso. Don't know if its a coincidence or not. Actually, I think its a little itty bitty town called San Elizario. It is right smack dab on the Rio Grande.

He's a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG kid for a U14. He's taller than me, so must be 6'1".

Both he and Dante Sealy are on the FCD U16/17 academy team this year as 2003s!

also Nyeman is out injured. I believe he would have been called into camp if fit. Would slot him in for Levya or Killeen in middle.

Some good info in this vid. Eskilson says that Toure is by far the best CF he's seen in a US soccer shirt since he started attending youth camps in 2011, also reiterated that he's an 04 not an 03 despite USSoccer press release saying it was an all 03 camp, not sure who to believe but not sure it really matters too much, we could be talking about a difference of 4 months and Toure clearly has ability outside of just physicality.

I'd love more details about the general player qualities U.S. scouts are looking for, whether across or at specific positions. This piece gets pretty quickly into an exercise that seems to point toward depth charting for future YNTs. Of course, both are interesting subjects, for different reasons.

Does he have a passport to help him in this regard?

If not, its going to be quite a long wait for those "Massive" clubs.

What a dumb comment. Worst age in a while, yet he's judging it without its best player. Judge '98 without Pulisic, and its worse than with him.

Nyeman himself can hold up 2003 pretty well, in a way that Carleton held up 2000 for a few years until the rest developed. And speaking of that, I'm not sure I'd regard the opinion of someone who lists the best 2000's, and leaves out Carleton, but they've made a conscious decision that they are completely anti-Carleton, look at Travis Clark's account, @barvsenal has argued this with him before, and he always has some strange reasoning for why he dislikes him. They also completely botched their 2001 rankings, forgetting Konrad and Booth, including Vassilev. They really like Vassilev for some reason, which is baffling to me.

It's even weirder because TDS really highly rates Nyeman. Parchman was the guy who said DC wanted to sign him already, and Eskilson specifically labeled his video on Nyeman "DC's Best Prospect", which to me said that they rated Nyeman even over Durkin.

Lots of California kids on this roster after 0 on the u17 WC roster. For anyone keeping track of such things, imo Wilmington definitely would qualify as an “inner city” type of place.

That thing was such a fluke, I don't know why some (not saying you, but Kleiban and people like him) are making it an anti-California thing or a problem in the system not evaluating California players properly.

Llanez was the 22nd man on the team. They very easily could've chose Llanez over Vassilev, and there would've been a Californian. Arteaga should've made that team, probably the biggest omission among 00's IMO, was it because Hackworth is anti-California? I don't think so. And I'd argue Julian Araujo should've been on the team, but he never got a chance. Zico Bailey is another player who I think might've deserved a chance. I think making it into a big deal (which some have done) makes little sense. Thats how these rosters go, occasionally you'll get none from a particular region, none from a particular year, none of a particular style. The fact that some made this into a big deal is baffling to me.

Regional pride. We're fortunate that many of the SEC states are not into soccer. Just think of the same fanaticism that they have for football transferred instead to soccer. We'd never hear the end of complaints about omitting their guys from Alabama, Mississippi, etc. from YNT rosters.

Don’t really know why there weren’t Californians on that u17 team, though I will say there were at least 2-3 guys on that roster that I’d rate behind Uly, and I’m not exactly the biggest Uly fan. Also, I don’t care if there are Californians or not, it was just a topic of conversation before. We Californians have this geocentric attitude where if you have a collection of the best 25 of anything, AT LEAST 3-5 have to be from California. Even if they don’t live here, they have to have grown up here.

A lot of kids on this roster are from Southern California, though, and another topic of conversation was that we don’t scout enough inner city kids. The general stigma in Southern California is US Soccer is only interested in kids from the valley or kids from Orange County. There are 3 kids from the city of Los Angeles, which could mean they grew up in 5 million dollar homes, or they had tang and toast for breakfast. I’ve heard the Galaxy are doing more scouting in urban areas, though.

With his last name, it wouldn't be a surprise if he had a West African passport, which would help with Cotonou rules, which could help him move early. Just a guess

He's from Guinea, can he get an EU passport?

And just on his game, it seems like everyone settled on for now that he's an '04 after there being confusion whether he might be an '02 or '03. Either way, he seems very good (from the highlights I've watched), whether he's an '02, '03 or '04.

No, but Guinea is a signatory to the Cotonou Agreement. Players from such countries count as domestic players in Spain.

I think a Guinea passport gets you into Ligue 1 as a domestic player, too.

I imagine that would only help when he turns 18, though, which there's still a lot of time until.
