Well folks, our recent record of FA Cup success comes to an end, and Wenger's record of never(?) having been eliminated in the 3R before, and our 9 match unbeaten run. And not by the team you would've predicted. And so goes my thread duty. Good luck to whomever steps up next.
Sack the entire coaching staff. Sell Theo, Welbz, Elneny. Loan Holding, Chambers, Iwobi. Start Nelson. Burn the season down.
If nobody else does it, I'll do it. But my luck has been shit this year. Are we wanting Arsene to get fired? If so, let's just start only switching thread starters when we win
I see the future - El Neny, Holding, Welbz, Iwobi all in a relegation fight within the next few days.
So I guess now we should start watching the Europa very intently cause that's all that's left... So exciting! (Very heavy sarcasm).
I don't think people will mind so much who does it as long as they keep up with their duties and don't go AWOL.
I saw the replay of their first goal. We really had a complete brain fart on that one. The 2-man wall allowed Lihaj to be right next to Ospina and onside. And yet our defensive line was several yards too high upfield. Lihaj understood the offside geometry but our team did not. Shameful. p.s. Would it have perhaps been smarter to forego the wall altogether, which would've allowed us to set our defensive line on the 6-box where we wanted to?
That was a 2-touch PK, make the bastard retake it, shit, no goddamn brains wearing the referee's shirt (John Moss, of course), and no VAR available in this match. two-touch PK, the goddamn infamous Coventry City Donkey Kick from 1970 rears its ugly head, it's like Willie Carr and Ernie Hunt were blessing that one, SHIT!!! Here it is, the original and infamous two-touch free-kick that eventually got ones like it outlawed by all the governing bodies of football across the globe.
Why would he get to take another penalty? I have no idea what the rule it, but it seems backwards that a taker would get a second attempt.
I stand corrected, and as a matter of fact Alice and I were discussing this match and specifically this goal, on our way to Chimacum Chevron (10 miles from BIGHMW.com Headquarters here in Port Townsend) to get gas for our WarHorse, and whether or not he should've been awarded a retake but we both eventually agreed that you don't give the son of a bitch a retake because it was all his own fault, you only get ONE BITE at the apple, no mulligans on this.
Yeah, this. For me, it really doesn't matter if he gets the ball or not (which he didn't). It wasn't from the side, it was from straight behind, and those are fouls. It's a shame, really, because we could be using Debuchy more than we are given that Bellerin's form has turned poor. I suspect it was a matter of trying too hard to get back into contention for playing time. But really, whatever. Wenger out.
Whatever. At least now the team can focus on the league without ANOTHER cup distraction. With no CL and no Fa cup to worry about, our squad should be rested and ready to go to win the prem.
That nut Mancredi on BeIN says that the last time we conceded 4 goals in FAC was 110 years ago! True? Yikes.
Most of Arsenal's younger stars are not progressing well. Some fans vilify Welbeck, but the more tactical SAF used him to good effect. Xhaka, Iwobi, Mustafi, Chambers, Holding, El-neny have not really progressed under Wenger. It is the older established stars that have been somewhat steady; the likes of Kos, Monreal, Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette, Ramsey and recently, Wilshere (now 25).
I’ve mostly calmed down. All I can say is that I’m not surprised. Periodic Sh*tshows are a feature of Arsenal. No. Man United ten years ago, where Wenger played an even weaker team. But the excuse there was a CL tie against Milan.
Yeah I knew that sounded fishy. And I shoulda known instantly. Especially because I myself cited that very blowout at OT earlier in this thread. I just didn't remember the exact number of goals they scored, but in looking it up now, it was in fact 4. And as you say, just 10yrs ago. Even if Mancredi is terribly math challenged there's a fair difference between 10 and 110! His cred just went down even further. P.s. Fun fact, one player had a hand in these 2 blowouts, 10 years apart: Armand Traore.
