I am in shock. Notre Dame is the most beautiful building in the world and in the most perfect setting. I looked at a pic or two, but had to stop. It was like watching replays of Joe Theismann's leg being broken. I just couldn't do it.
I thought this was interesting: 1117851562393554944 is not a valid tweet id 1117857046475476992 is not a valid tweet id
And not only is it beautiful, the feeling I had being inside it was like no place else I've ever been, even the Taj Mahal didn't come close. And I'm not Catholic or even Christian.
Me too. I feel the Holy Spirit come upon me, oh, about twice a decade. Three times if I'm lucky. I felt it there.
If the insurance company did not include a hot work permit warranty than they can only blame themselves.
Trump is pissed being upstaged by the fire. Even after he told them how to handle it and put it out. He is such an expert...on everything. Trump says ‘to be honest’ the Notre Dame fire ‘puts a damper’ on fun presidential events https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/tr...ame-fire-puts-damper-fun-presidential-events/
I'm just heartsick over this. I know they'll rebuild - I visited Dresden years ago when the Frauenkirche looked like this: But I'll be an old man before I'll be able to travel to Paris again and walk inside Notre Dame. I'm having a very, very difficult time wrapping my mind around that new reality.
They've started. Fox News’ Shepard Smith on Monday shut down Philippe Karsenty, a prominent French political gadfly, for suggesting the fire consuming Notre Dame was deliberately set. “Everybody’s really under shock now in France. I would tell you something, even if nobody died, it’s like a 9/11, a French 9/11,” Karsenty said of the centuries-old cathedral. “You need to know that for the past years, we’ve had churches desecrated each and every week all over France. Of course, you will hear the story of the political correctness, which will tell you it’s probably an accident.” https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/fo...r-suggesting-notre-dame-fire-was-intentional/
For anyone interested, this Twitter thread on fighting a fire like this one (starting with the tweet below), from a firefighter, is pretty informative/educational: 1117847726786371585 is not a valid tweet id
A lot of the glass may be from the 20th Century -- I hadn't heard that. But a lot of the glass is from the 1200s, too.
A bit of humor, but did anybody else think of Swamp Castle (Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail)?
Notre Dame is one of the world’s great treasures, and we’re thinking of the people of France in your time of grief. It’s in our nature to mourn when we see history lost – but it’s also in our nature to rebuild for tomorrow, as strong as we can. pic.twitter.com/SpMEvv1BzB— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) April 15, 2019
It's the only thing Northeastern Catholics have. BU went back to being its usual non-athletic self after Matt Ryan left. Without the Irish, you're stuck following college hockey, lol
I mean, there's nothing up there athleticswise except hockey and lax- rich boy sports. A guy who says "The wrong Notre Dame burned" isn't questioning their value as an academic institution- he hates on their football program. Plenty of ND fans up there, even tho the school's Midwestern.
