Since there seem to be a few people from San Diego, and I'm curious about this NPSL upstart, here we go with a new thread. http://ncbattalion.com/ https://twitter.com/NCBattalion http://npsl.info/home/895486.html Said to be based in Carlsbad, but has yet to settle on a venue. Tryouts in RSF.
http://www.thecoastnews.com/2015/10/26/northbound-soccer-a-scoring-opportunity-for-north-county/ team name pays tribute to the military personnel and firefighters stationed in North County, and their service in the community. NC Battalion is the latest addition to the NPSL Southwest Conference, which includes the Temecula FC, San Diego Flash, and FC Force (Bonita). In an interview with team owner Jason Barbato, I learned that NC Battalion was founded with a strong desire to bring soccer action closer to local fans. Supporting a team isn’t an easy task for North County soccer enthusiasts, whose options include driving two hours to see an LA Galaxy match, or crossing the border to watch the Tijuana Xolos play. Barbato, a lifelong Southern California resident and “avid fan” of soccer, is optimistic about the team’s inaugural season. “We believe that there is a demand for this club in our community and the amazing reception we’ve received so far indicates that we are headed in the right direction,” he said. Asked how he would gauge success in the team’s first year, Barbato replied that a 500-plus fan attendance at home games and financially breaking even are his benchmarks, along with the team qualifying for a playoff berth. The first team tryout for the 2016 season have been scheduled for Nov. 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Horizon Prep in Rancho Santa Fe.
Their website looks fantastic, very professional looking. I love their crest too, so much I decided to buy one of their shirts. But then again I support anything Hampton Roads or San Diego.
http://www.soccernation.com/nc-battalion-committed-to-giving-back-to-society/ Speaking to SoccerNation.com about this core component of the Battalion, Barbato stated “If the next amazing soccer player is here in North County we want to make sure that those kids have every chance to get noticed and get a shot to be developed by one of these partnering youth clubs.” NC Battalion believe they can do a small part to making a huge difference in those kids’ lives.
http://www.soccernation.com/ryan-guy-announced-as-new-head-coach-of-nc-battalion/ The North County Battalion have announced Ryan Guy as their Head Coach for the upcoming 2016 National Premier Soccer League season. Guy fills the void left by Giovanni Vlahos who resigned his coaching duties on February 28, 2016. In a statement to SoccerNation.com, Vlahos said he “wishes the best to (owner) Jason and the Battalion.”

I just saw their contract termination on Twitter. Whatever happened to the Flash and Zest? What's 2017 going to look like in the sport here in SD?
The Flash folded last year: http://www.soccernation.com/san-diego-will-be-a-lot-less-flashy-in-2016/ Strangely enough, I think the outcome of the Measure C vote has the answer to your question. If the Chargers leave Qualcomm, they'll be replaced by an MLS team. If they stay, for whatever reason, MLS skips San Diego and fills te 28 with other markets. Leaving San Diego with USL or NASL at best. Albion are confirmed as NPSL for 2017. Haven't heard much from Zest. Their only social posts lately have been in Japanese...
Albion!!! I knew I was missing somebody! Family friends' daughters have played in their girls' teams. Actually, I wish they'd go for WPSL as well as NPSL. Maybe in the future.
