He's already admitted to not having touched it. As to his overall play, he was a decisive contributor where others appeared lost in the conditions. The first goal would have been an easy save for the keeper if Owen's run across him had not placed him in No Man's Land and the second was just another example of his extraordinary ability to sniff out a goal where others don't even see a chance of one. That's not "garbage". That's class. He and Heskey were fed on shit all night, you can only do your best with the material on hand.
Matt Clark...agreed. They were fed crap all night. Owen even said he wasn't getting service...and he also told Becks that he didn't touch the ball, anyways, the goal was awarded to Becks. Owen was class. Most strikers would've gotten themselves out of a game like that mentally and wouldve never even stuck with a ball like that second goal. But Owen knew he had to keep his head in that match...and when he even got a sniff of a goal...he put it in. Pure Class.
