Korkut is definitely not an aspiring hire for the fans but it this will be a good opportunity for Dolo

...and if he can help keep VfB up in the B1, he could be elected as mayor of Stuttgart.

And likely to feel even better because . . .

when underwhelming and not-at-all popular desperation hire Korkut gets canned, Dolo is appointed head coach and stabilizes the team.

You read it here first ;)

I know he hasn’t lived in the states since what feels the 80s and probably has a German family pretty settled but…… There could be a number of MLS clubs looking for a coach pretty soon

The irony of Bobby Wood scoring a rare brace to get Dolo fired. Quick, someone come up with a USMNT politics spin on this!

What about Cherundolo coaching as the next USMNT assistant under Berhalter, since they were teammates on 2002 and 2006 WC teams?

Also I'm sure Bob Bradley would hire him as an assistant LAFC in a heartbeat (along with Friedel at New England, and Ben Olsen at DC United, both former WC teammates).

Or I'd like to see him be given the reins for an MLS club if someone is willing to take a chance. There are current openings at Vancouver and LA Galaxy. Could also soon be openings in Columbus (if Berhalter leaves), and Atlanta (if Martino leaves). We may also see changes soon in Chicago (they stink), and Orlando (ditto).

I wonder if Cherundolo would return to Hannover in some capacity or try a much lower level club. Like 5th division.

Why would he drop down a level to be an assistant coach in MLS? I’d guess he can bide his time in some role with Hannover till something pops up in Germany.

That's the right course of action.

I wonder why he went to Stuttgart in the first place. Was it more prestigious than his gig with Hannover?

Youth team coach or full-time assistant for a first team? You answered your own question.

Helping out with the USMNT this week:

    http://www.espn.com/soccer/club/uni...undolo-talks-coaching-us-player-pool-and-more

As for what is next for Cherundolo, he noted that he's "open to everything. My phone is on." He said he had no regrets for taking the Stuttgart assistant coach position after spending almost 20 years with Hannover. He has in fact been speaking to both clubs about a new role -- he is after all still getting paid by Die Roten -- and he wouldn't rule out someday returning to the U.S. to share what he has learned. Last year, former international teammate and current Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra sent some of the club's youth coaches to Stuttgart to pick Cherundolo's brain, so there is some recognition of his work.
