Supposedly, I should be getting a couple of hundred shirts to be passing out at the tailgate. Will it happen ... we'll see...

So "Don't Tread on Me" is back! I guess they don't have a trademark problem with the slogan afterall. Awesome. Oh if Nike could convince US Soccer to allow them to incorporate that crest onto the new kits.......well, I guess I'd be dreaming.

That little video of the US-Mex clash is pretty good. I found it humorous when that (well-spoken) little girl who was wearing a Mexican jersey said "I'm going for whoever wins. I'm from here but my family is from Mexico, and it's pretty confusing." Haha, quality!

THE MINIVAN IS NOT THE OFFICIAL VEHICLE OF OUR SPORT!

Sorry for the caps, but this part must be shouted from the hilltops :)

And here's the copy that preceded it: "Our preeminent stars include everyone from a player who grew up in a Texas trailer home to a striker who learned to shame defenders in the projects of Florida. This sport is no longer exclusive to the children of the suburbs. The minivan..."

The print version hit today. A full page ad in USA Today with the So Says This American Game manifesto. Other excerpts:

"This game is now as integral to our country as hot dogs at a barbeque or turkey on Thanksgiving or fireworks on the Fourth of July. It is booming. It is exploding. Light fuse and get away....

"Yes there are still those who despise our sport--our own countrymen, in fact. But let them hate. Let them moan all they want from atop their barstools and behind their keyboards and radio booth glass...

    "This is soccer. A game for the flag-waving, tax-paying, apple-pie-eating, Star-Spandled-Banner-singing, red-blooded American.

    So Says This American Game."

If you didn't see it in your paper you can download the PDF from the Nike site.

Full page in USA Today can't be cheap. How many other papers got the ad today?

Looks like Nike isn't going to quietly let adidas capture the American soccer market.

I'll try and set aside a bunch of shirts for people who can't make it, but it will depend on how many we are given in the first place.

To be fair, I have to make sure that at least most of the people that are there get their shirts. Then I'll set some aside, right in my car ... and I'll let you guys know tomorrow.

it would be awesome if this were to be put on the new kits. or even if this were to become our new crest. it kicks more ass than the current one.
