Anyone watching this series based on a G.R.R.M novella? I think "The Expanse" has spoiled me because what I have seen this far didn't really convince me. Perhaps this is something we have seen too often, basically horror in deep space.
Yeah, which itself was influenced by "Alien". I think so far my problem is that none of the characters really interest me much. Perhaps the only exception is the woman who interfaces with the ship's systems.
Also, I think it's now become such a lazy trope to use a reference to "Don't Look Now" by putting a missing kid in a red coat that it should be retired after "Nightflyers".
Woah, this is a bit of a mess. I am going to finish it in all likelihood because there are only three episodes remaining, but it seems like the lukewarm - at best - reviews prior to the shows release were on the money. It just doesn't work for whatever reason. The only thing I really liked in the latest episode was the psychic using his powers to send some crew members on a crazy game of pretend Russian roulette. Has G.R.R.M. responded to it in any way? He could occasionally be quite critical of the work Benioff and Weiss did with his source material but he certainly had a lot less reason to complain about them than about the executive producer(s) of "Nightflyers".
I finished this season (are they going to be making more?) and I thought it was honestly quite mediocre to poor most of the time. It's also baffling that Syfy got rid of "The Expanse" but then invests in a property that is so very inferior like this. I honestly enjoyed the flawed "Ascension" a lot more than this. They can't even get their dramatic beats right. A big moment should have been Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Rowan killing Captain Eris but it was treated so ridiculously that it was more absurd than truly shocking.
